Actual photo of shitshow at Memorial Stadium.

I took this from the the Purdue board. A picture is worth a thousand words. I would like to see an explanation from Fred Glass on this one.

Chuck Crabb is Assistant AD for Facilities. Send complaints to him.

At the Maryland game, the new family area was off limits due to ice. Apparently weather reports about snow the night before tricked our facility staff.

I was told it might open at halftime, and my guests should come back. During the first half, there were exactly zero people observed spreading ice melt or otherwise getting it open.

Not. One.

Somebody decided keeping it closed was “good enough.”

When I told the guy guarding the door at halftime that I thought it was a bad thing that families couldn’t use the family area, he acted like I was an asshole and was aghast that I didn’t understand there was ice. ICE. Like ice is some impenetrable force of nature. Of course, every other business in Bloomington had to get rid of ice from thier sidewalks. Only Memorial Stadium somehow was hit with ice that was completely impervious to a little work and elbow grease. (I hope they called Ripley.)

It’s not the first issue I’ve had with Stadium personnel. But I don’t blame Fred Glass. He can’t micro-manage everything.

But in succesive games, bird shit and ice have somehow defeated whomever is in charge of the Stadium, so I could support an adjustment in authorities.

Couldn't see the photo because the PU board is fully of immature kids who can't stand anything related to IU. Got blacklisted a few years back after congratulating them on winning the Big Ten. Go figure.

I gotta admit, when I first saw that, my first smartass reaction was “Moooo. We were trying to make your girlfriends feel at home, and thought animal poop was just the thing. Sorry. Mistakes were made. Mental note - cow poop, not bird goo.”

Yikes. I get that this section was not sold but regardless that is embarassing. You know that it will be where the visitors sit and these clowns will base their entire lives off of a photo like this.

One of the nicest stadiums anywhere after the transformation and you let this happen? Rediculous.

You won’t
I will!
I have been to several Bucket games and IU has lost every Bucket game I have every attended at home. I will still attend, and root for IU regardless of the chances of winning. But if you want fans to show, you have to give them optimism of winning.

Was at Bloomington with a big group of about half Purdue half IU fans for what I think was or 15th bucket game. We had a very good time.

Our seats were in the opposite side of the stadium from the picture and we moved over another section because of all the bird shit. I can assure you that was not photoshopped. The lines for the bathroom were short but the concessions were brutal. Thy would not honor the refills on the refillable popcorn and pop our IU fan guests bought after waiting in line forever. You guys have a nice stadium, a little better management and affordable tickets for fans could make for a very nice game day experience.

Glad you enjoyed yourself and I personally apologize for the lack of basic sanitation by getting a power washer up there before the game...even if the goose invasion happened that morning. I will call down there today for an explaination.

That is unacceptable.

That’s great. Thanks!

the goose crap could have caught everyone by surprise.

the horrible attendance was the real disgrace for PU-IU, and was engineered by the administration, (and previous ones)..

A game day walk-through as soon as it is light should be basic.

Know your job - do your job - do your best, even when nobody is looking.

You can't brag about your facility, then leave bird shit on the seats during a televised game.

It also died in the 90’s
It is not like it use to be but I have went to a lot of tournament games since class basketball and the atmosphere in those games were great. My nephew played on our Knightstown teams form 04-06 and we won 3 straight sectionals and made one semi state and the gyms were full and loud like it use to be at the New Castle field house when I was a kid.

Football is not only the biggest college sport by FAR, it produces the most revenue to pay for other sports and pr for your school. It's not even close.
Maybe in most places but in Indiana basketball is king. I would bet money that if you polled all IU fans and alumni if you could only have one of the sports at IU the majority would pick basketball.

The goose poop, restroom, and concession issues Saturday are inexcusable. Whether the problem was Fred himself or someone with a lesser title, somebody needs to answer. Several concession stands had only three or four people staffing and others were closed completely. How do you run out of food before halftime ? There should be a public apology from Fred with a promise that those things will never happen again. Embarrassing to say the least.

It's wild, just wild that they ran out of food before halftime. Talk about the concession vendors running their business on a shoestring, my goodness.

Glass is atrocious, this reflects poorly on him whether he had anything to do with it or not.

But we have great facilities!! We've invested more money into the football program in centuries! Hundreds of Millions!!!

But you can't buy a hot dog that probably cost them 50¢ to serve.

Nope, because I don't check grammar and spelling every time I post
I'm not talking about the King's English here. A college graduate should be able to compose a message that doesn't violate the most basic rules of grammar without a second thought. Mrs. Bridgewater (7th grade English) would have kicked my ass if I'd posted what you did.

Do you even know what was wrong with the sentence I quoted?

you might be right and if so that is sad

Really looking forward to someone posting some kind of response from the AD. Reading through this thread right now makes me really embarrassed for the IU athletic department.

Why is it sad for people to like the sport of basketball better than football
You have a point that it is subjective but as a whole I can only think of 2 states that possibly prefer bb over fb (IN and KY) now I might be leaving one state out but even Carolina is really a fb state. Now you could make the same argument, "why is it sad for people to like the sport of track (or whatever) better than football". It's still subjective sure. But the majority of people prefer fb for whatever reason. I've been to SEC and PAC12 games the excitement generated exceeds bb and the majority agree. So why not set as a university a goal to compete at the highest level of competition on a national basis. Just like you set as a goal academically to compete at the highest level with your peers.

It's the typical basketball mindset that has routinely hurt this program. Football must come first or at least get equal billing.

You don’t understand at all how this works. There are two money makers in college sports: men’s football and men’s basketball. Period.

It’s great we have all the other sports but they don’t drive an ounce of revenue Scott.

If people gave two shits about the sport of soccer in this country, we’d have 100,000 seat soccer stadiums. We don’t. It’s a European sport.
I like that they are good and the women’s synchronized swimming is excelling but they don’t do an ounce for the bottom line.

It’s how it is. Make no mistake: Fred will be evaluated on football and basketball. That’s it.

Soccer (or Football in other parts of the planet) is a socialist conspiracy.

Getting back to the topics of the thread, my guess is that the concessions were more concerned about holding onto edible inventory after the last game of the season.

Regarding the bird crap, that was quite an accumulation. I have worked in a number of ocean ports and have not seen that much crap on the piers. Those corner seats were probably never occupied all season and they decided to just forget about them. I also doubt the stadium maintenance people will own up to it.
