How much do Elon and Bezos pay in payroll taxes? Real estate taxes? Corporate income tax? For those companies they founded?
All so so brain dead politicians can chastise them for not paying their "fair share".
i don't like seeing brain dead politicians act as steward of anything. the notion of these successful people turning money over to a joe biden to just piss away like monopoly money is awful. but that's sort of separate from the idea of taxes. corp tax rate of 21 percent with probably a real tax of 10 percent with many paying zero and even getting refunds. so many loopholes. accelerating depreciation. offshoring profits. on and on
Well, in Musk's case, it's buy a company and grow it. Article says that most of his money is from Tesla and he just became the majority stockholder in 2006. Tesla was started in 2003 by two engineers. To his credit he saw the future in electric cars and knew that Tesla was a good one to invest in and promote.
i think he's brilliant and his history and the breadth of his interests is as well. in the mid 90s he founded a co that provided maps to online papers. compaq bought it for like 300 mil. then he went into online financial services that was the genesis of paypal. then space x. teslas. etc. he's brilliant and has instincts that are incredible. i've met dorsey a few times. he has that same kind of mind. listening to police scanners served as the inspiration for him. and i know he has others involved but being able to put it all together is an incredible skill. disrupting industries all of that stuff. it ain't easy. in my view it's soooooooooo much harder than anything else. being a doctor is a set path. you know the courses. residency. practice. the steps are set forth. law no different. but this shit is so amorphous. it's amazing
Saying Musk is a genius or brilliant doesn’t cover all of it. He has a way of solving problems and accomplishing goals that is unique in the world. What kind of person can hoot and holler at a Trump rally in Butler Pa like a high school kid knowing that he has the largest rocket ever launched sitting on his launch pad in Texas about to make space history.
And he runs a social media platform in his spare time, after shedding most of its employees.
