A must win accomplished....

Do you carry pom-pons around?

Gotta give you credit for one thing - you find the silver lining in a mediocrity cloud!

Would rather have must wins

In NCaa tourney as opposed to must wins in February to keep our Bubble from bursting. I have a feeling we will be seeing more from the latter.

Not bad for introducing some missing parts.... different combinations were played that may help down the road....

Re: Do you carry pom-pons around?

Sisk Kum Bah! Mediocrity is an over used word... only word you can use now.... which is derived from unrealistic expectations ..... get into reality.... this program has been down for decades and climbing out!

Absolutely agree. Am I concerned? Obviously

But this is how conference games are...they are never easy. And just because you win one game easily doesn't mean you win the next game, and just because you struggle in one game doesn't mean all hope is lost for the next game. And just because MSU and Purdue blew us out at their building doesn't mean they will definitely beat IU in Bloomington. All around the country in every league, you are seeing what a difference home vs. road makes in game. Georgetown blew out Villanova at home, and got blown out by them on the road. Kansas lost at Ok State yesterday. ND beat Duke at home, and got killed by them on the road. AZ lost to AZ State yesterday. Not all hope is gone, especially when you have more home games than road left. I think this team has an excellent chance to make the NCAAs, which will exceed 90% of folks realistic expectations heading into the season. Anything beyond that such as picking up wins in the big ten tournament or NCAA tournament would be absolute gravy.

Climbing out of what?

I'm not seeing it. IU just barely beat a depleted UM team at home. Many of the top college football and basketball programs have experienced periods of mediocrity. These programs usually rise again only when a top HC is hired.

Re: I'm perpetually perplexed more people don't get this

It's the Big 10. You hold court at home, and try to steal a few on the road, unless your a top-10 team (wisconsin, IU a couple of years ago). Anyone who expects to win on the road in the Big 10 hasn't been paying attention -- and that holds true for even very good teams.

That being the case, I think we've done fairly well this season considering the makeup and age of our roster -- no seniors, no legit post presence.

Sure, if Fischer had stayed, we might be a bigger threat come tourney time, but he didn't (and I put a lot of that on TC, as well as the lack of depth down low) and that being the case, I think a tourney appearance is a good season and something to build on -- especially if most of the roster returns. ....

End of day, it's UK's to lose and everyone else is just background this year. Let's make the tourney, make some noise, and get back on track from last year's debacle. And if we have a top 10 team next year, and still do squat in the tourney, all the Crean haters (I'm a Crean tolerater, for now) will have their day.

Until then, enjoy watching this team -- they're fun, if frustrating, to watch.

Surely you jest ...

Climbing? Crean gets credit for a B1G title five years after inheriting a walk-on squad. THAT was climbing out of it. BUT it's been downhill from there with the possibility of his best players going to the draft and a less than exciting incoming class. That's more like going downhill with leaking brake lines.

Re: 2nd place in Big......

Climbing out? It seems to me the last two years are a big step down from crean's peak year with zeller. This season is far from over while yes we are 7-4 right now can crean prove me wrong and finish strong? His track record in that department is not good.

Re: 2nd place in Big......

You're like bulls and bears in the market, eventually they're both right after being wrong more times than not. Crean cannot do anything to prove you wrong, you simply switch to another example when wrong and celebrate when you're right.

The guy predicting the end of the earth will probably be right sometime. You remind me of him.

Re: Can be spelled either way...

It can be spelled in several ways meaning the same thing. The ways other than pom-pom are side notes, but I'll agree with you.
