#5 AP / #6 Coaches

Assuming OSU doesn’t get upset this weekend.

A top-5 matchup that is basically a play-in to the B1G championship game? Plus, in Columbus where they haven’t been this year. A shoo-in for Gameday, and hopefully a night game
Curious, why are you hoping for a night game? Thanks.

I thought we had a shot #6, but not #5. That is awesome. So happy for those guys.
My exact thought in the chat. Said we had a chance for 6, never thought we would get 5. They are finally taking this team seriously. Worried we drop to like 13 if we lose to Ohio State and it puts us outside playoff with a victory over Purdue being meaningless. Love what is happening regardless. CCC is a bad man.

Get healthy, who is questionable for the OSU game ?
I think a lot of us are wondering about Miles Price…has anything come out? Hoping he’s not in concussion protocol .

I was at the game so not aware if he ever returned but I didn’t see him out there after that hit.

H returned to the bench but was not in uniform.

Let’s hope he is cleared by the 23rd. Great time to have the bye week. I’m sure a lot of guys could use a week off.

Some thoughts on yesterday’s game . 1st I sat one section over from the student section , row 10 . The kids were great , and really into the game from start to finish . They stayed the whole game , unlike in the past when most left at half . This really helps inspire the team as after the game the team ran over and thanked and celebrated with the students . 2nd I think we have somewhat overlooked how good our defense is because of how great our offense has played . Michigan did a good job on Defense against us yesterday , and really shut us down the 2nd half . Our defense really stepped up , and made this win possible . When we held them to a field goal when they intercepted Rourke inside the 10 yd line to start the 2nd half showed how strong our defense is . I think that series won us the game . They score a TD there the whole momentum would have changed . Finally we got our bad game out of the way , let’s get everyone healed up , and ready to close out the rest of the season .

It’s glorious. No fan base deserves it more than us. We’ve been punished for decades. We still have to not only beat teams with 4/5 star talent but also beat the god awful refs. 10 wins! I can’t stop tearing up….we won 12 games my entire 4 years in Bloomington. It’s so freakin glorious.

You better be right or I am gonna be so mad.
Of course I would love a win in Columbus but I’m also realistic. Our team plays/executes very well, but so does OSU and they have 5* & 4* guys everywhere. If we do lose, I hope it’s <10 because if we get blown out/embarrassed, you’ll never hear the end of the “IU was overrated all along” horseshit. It will be non-stop. Even if we finish 11-1, an embarrassing loss will be the only excuse the committee needs to leave us out of the playoff.

There are two things we need to be concerned about on Nov 23 - - who wins, and the final score.

If we win, the sky is the limit for this team this season.

An IU loss, in a close game, will not ruin our season, assuming we beat Purdue. We will not plummet in the CFP rankings if we’re competitive in Columbus. We will still, absolutely, be in the Top 12 at 11-1 with our only L coming in a close game at the ‘shoe.

A month ago I said I couldn’t picture IU in the CFP without playing in the Big Ten championship, but now I believe that we’ll be in at 11-1 if we play the Buckeyes tough and beat PU. And it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that we’re in even if OSU beats us soundly. The SEC is down this year, there are a lot of games still to be played, more upsets coming, and many moving pieces. We are in the hunt!!

IU has proven this team is capable of beating the more athletic teams as their isn't much difference between IU and OSU.

The second half offensive performance was a wake up call. The oline was physically manhandled which gives me concern that OSU will do the same, and they actually have a competent offense unlike Michigan.

It’s a perfect time for our bye week.

In Cig I trust.

(I think it’ll be a creative offensive game plan, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Tayven sees some action).

Having to replace an OG on Thursday with a guy that that is listed as a TE on IUs roster and then going up against UM’s DTs is an almost an impossible task. We survived and now have 2 weeks to prep the OL and tweak the offensive gameplan

Losing Drew Evans was a big blow. He was our best pass blocker and it showed. I’m sure a lot of those Michigan linemen pressuring Rourke came in through his guard spot on the line. He’s out for the season, so backup needs to step up.

I had Indiana at 6. I didn't have Indiana or Penn State ahead of Tennessee. I had Notre Dame jumping BYU. I didn't have Ole Miss in the Top 12 but it doesn't surprise me. Right now 11 Georgia is the odd man out because 12 Miami (ACC champion?) and 13 Boise (top Group of 5) have automatic bids.

Will the committee snub Ole Miss in favor of Georgia? More importantly where will they put IU?

"with our only L coming in a close game at the 'shoe". This is a very significant factor, which I think the selection committee will be considering as to IU being in or out. A blowout loss will bounce IU out of the top 12, imo. There is already label bias. IU has to make this game competitive to remove the argument that IU would be competitive in a playoff game against another top 12 team.
