39 years and counting....

True but ancient history. Our last Championship was 32 years ago, our last appearance in the Final Four was 2002, and I believe without looking it up, our last appearance in the Elite 8 was 2011 or 12, and prior to that it was 1993.

Which, while not up to our standards, is in a whole other galaxy compared to PU. And they just let their best chance for a final four appearance since 1980 slip through their fingers. Lord it over them. Never let them forget it.

The facts are on my side. At halftime, Painter explicitly commented about the open looks, and Bennett did later, too. Your position is not only at odds with mine, but their’s, as well. Oh, and Charles Barkely’s and Kenny Smith’s, too. You’ve failed to show you have any understanding of this, which makes anyone wonder why you’d try to have a discussion about it.
Nice deflection, Ord. Still not true. But I would never expect anything else from you. You are the black knight from Monty Python's Holy Grail. I'll give you credit for persistence.

Deflection? Hardly. Ord? Hardly, Part II. I knew you had no depth behind your perspective, which is why you’re left to respond with posts like this. I’ll give you credit for slinking away rather than pretending you know anything. In that regard, you’re wise to withdraw.

Well, yeah, and that’s exactly what I said. How many 40+ games have Bennett teams given up at UVA? How about at WSU? Bennett was a step behind in adjusting the entire game, and it enabled a lesser team to come within an eyelash of knocking him out. And, yes, it was because Edwards (with help from several of his mates) shredded his vaunted defense.
No. it took a special game by one player. to make it close. I wouldn't blame the pack line defense .

I was curious as a child. Once, I spent most of an afternoon taking apart a dog turd with a stick. I wanted to understand what was in it and why it smelled so bad.

At the end of the day, all I had accomplished was finding out that it was full of shit and that's why it smelled. Since that day, I have made it a point not to waste my time dissecting a dog turd. In the spirit of that, I'm just going to put you on ignore, Ord. Just like I have done with your previous 15 or 20 usernames.

There are seasons and games where you hang your head in shame, and there are seasons where you can be really proud. This loss hurts no doubt, and no doubt there will be untold levels of glee and derision on this forum. But it was one hell of a season and if you watched those basketball games you got to see college basketball at it's finest. Great, great games. Great season. Great kids. Gave their all.

As far as the "packline" debate...….It's like the 3-4 vs the 4-3 in the NFL. It all works when it is well coached and has the right players in the system.

Not every coach teaches it and understands it as well as some others. Not every roster has the right types of players to play it well.

Thanks for sharing your hobby with the class. It says a great deal about you. And thanks for acknowledging you were FOS regarding the basketball talk. And the mis-indentification thing is another of your ignorant dodges. Dumber than dumb but, as I said, at least you admitted it.

It brings up a question of what kind of NBA career he will have? At barely 6', he isn't going to guard an NBA SG, or at least very well. He can shoot, but is that enough?

Another question. Is there any reason he should return for another year of college? I don't see his stock rising any higher than the second round and he is solidly in that range now.

That's the big question and the difference between Carsen's situation and Romeo's. Romeo saw his stock fall in one college BB season and he will get big first round money. His stock certainly COULD fall more after another season.

For Carsen, while another year in college won't help his NBA stock most likely, it won't hurt it either and his money in the second round is much less to gamble than if he was a first round pick.

If some team who drafts at the end of the first round tells him "you won't get past us" I think he will come out. He probably will come out anyway, but the decision is more difficult than Romeo's.

Sorry. My curious nature got the best of me so I peeked. Thanks for acknowledging that you are indeed Ord. Good to see you be honest about that. As for the basketball talk, we both know your limitations and that once again your argument was destroyed by the facts and your own ignorance of the technicalities of the game. But we both know you will never admit you were wrong. Now you can have the last word as you always must. I'm done wasting my time with you.

Your curious nature? The one where you play with dog poop? And I acknowledged nothing, since it’s not true. You already admitted you made that up because the basketball discussion was beyond your intellect. But I knew you couldn’t leave, even though you said you would. That makes you a fraud and a liar, which goes nicely with your basketball ignorance. You babbled about something about which you know little then tried to double down when you were shown to be absolutely wrong. Face it, you look like a gutless fool who tried to bs his way through something and got caught. You said you were going to run away, so please do and save yourself further embarrassment.

Maybe year 40 will be the one to get them a FF.

Cline gagging on a FT to seal it was fitting. Most Purdue thing ever.
You could also change this to “32 and Counting” with regards to our title drought.

It could be worse though. We could be Purdue.

Purdue has been FAR better than us since 2002.

Our last Elite 8 was 2002. Completely pathetic.

I never cease to be amazed how our fans gloat over the failures of our conference competitors while our program continues to crash. SMH

No Final Four
No Accomplishment
Neither Keady or Painter has ever made a Final Four
Purdue is good but never great.

As a pro, I can see him being like "The Microwave" Vinnie Johnson was for the Detroit Pistons of the early 1990's. The guy who can come in for spurts of 6-10 minutes and shoot you back into the game or shoot you out of it. Most of the comments I see view him as an outside shooter, yet at the College Level he was more of a scorer - he could get the ball to the hoop and get his shot off against taller players. He may not have ideal size to play shutdown defense, but he has a muscular thick body build which may make up for the lack of height. If he gets on a team with really good defensive players who can help cover his perceived defensive shortcomings,he might be able to be on the floor 20-25 minutes a game and be very effective.

Better team? Maybe this team. So were the lower seed teams Gene lost to in the 80s and 90s too I guess. Purdue choking upon the NCAA tournament time is nothing but absolute certainty.

Don't forget 2000. Bennetts > Boilers in the NCAA tourney.
