With its inconsistent performances and playing down to lesser opponents…. IU hasn’t earned a higher rating.

Doesn’t mean the season is over … let’s go get a Big Tourney Bye seed … and see where Net ends up …

Last season, a something like 11-9 Ohio St. team was like 20th in the Net.

That told me all I needed to know about how that ranking ignores winning and can be gamed.

Purdue(4), Illinois(12), Wisconsin(17), Michigan State(26) and Ohio ST(35) at this point seems to be locks for the tourney, although Ohio ST with 10 of their wins in Quad 3 & 4, could slide down in BT play
Nebraska (62), Iowa (66) and Northwestern (72) are on the cut line.

It shows if you sneaked bye the nobody's and if you got blasted bye the somebody's! 9 0f IU's 10 wins are against Quad 3 and 4 with 8 of those at home, plus the margin of victory was not good!

Five loss, 8-5, Alabama mens basketball is ranked 5th in Kenpom.

Arizona who just took a beat down from a very bad .500 Stanford team is 4th in Kenpom

A middle of the pack in the Big Ten standings team is number #2. Lol

Has to be a massive error in his algorithm to explain these rankings.

They really don’t straighten up until almost February. I pay literally no attention until then. Too many teams get better and injuries etc…happen in conference play. People stress out too early. I mean look at Purdue… regular season darlings then flame out down the stretch. That was a poke.

Well, it is worth noting that Gulf Coast just beat FAU the other night.

The one advantage of struggling against lower competition is that they aren't really overlooking teams. Every Big Ten team looks like a threat. Hopefully the leadership will come from someone to get them on edge.

Is there a Quad 5?? FDU only Quad 5 team ever?

Also, hope the JV Juggernauts from West Laffy don’t draw Eastern Kentucky on selection Sunday. That’s the exact type of crappy team that will beat their ass when they pee all over themselves again.

We? You on the court?

It must be nice living in never never land.. You were so wrong this season about shooting you want to predict the rest of the season? I will go first next 5 games.. I say 2-3 over the next 5. Wins against Ohio State, Minnesota losses to @ Nebraska, Purdue, and @Rutgers.

Good! Lots of opportunity for good wins

If IU played Alabamas schedule they would probably be 7-6. Schedule rank 17.
If IU played Arizonias schedule they would probably be 6-7. Schedule rank 13.
IU schedule rank on Pomeroy is 123! IU has only 1 Quad 2 win in the books, 0 Quad 1,
Arizonia is 4-2 in Quad 1 wins, Alabama is 0-5 in Quad 1, but are 3-0 in Quad 2! IUs schedule will haunt them come selection day!

Speaking of haunts…17 seed taking down a 1 must be poltergeist level of haunts.

Hate to say it, but like Purdue most years, this IU team is built to do well in the B10 with a very low ceiling in March. IU has struggled against some inferior competition while playing against smaller lineups and defending the drive and kick. Not many B10 teams play this style of basketball and only a select few are really good 3 point shooting teams.

Who won by 1 at home against a 18 and lost to St Mary's by 29 in a play in game? Maybe you should change your moniker to "Casper". LOL
Its not possible to have a worse loss than Purdue's FDU loss... Most teams would actually have to actively try to lose that game. It just comes naturally for Purdue though.

IU lost in the same round to St. Mary’s as Purdue did FDU and Morehead St (who I’m assuming is the team you’re talking about in the first part of your post) is 150 spots higher in KenPom than FDU was at the time they entered the tournament. FDU is the lowest ranked KenPom team to ever play in the NCAAT. It’s tough to put into words just how bad FDU was last year. UMBC was 182nd in KenPom the year they beat Virginia.

Losing at home is worse. You know it and I know it. Losing to the Little sisters of the woods by 29 shows you are still bluebloods. LOL You won't have TJD to fall back on this year. The only way IU is still a blue blood would be if you got a transfusion. Enjoy your irrelevance. LOL

The hell are you talking about? IU has lost one home game this year, to #2 Kansas. Purdue has lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Peter's and North Texas the last 3 tournaments. There's a reason Purdue is a never has been.

How'd that home loss to IU taste last year then? FDU loss was 4000% worse, but I'm smiling thinking of all those Paint Crew douche bags walking back to their barns after JHS exposed their beloved JV team. Boo Bouie did it again a couple weeks ago...its like a tragic train wreck playing out again, and again, and again.

You mean JHS? JHS made your lurch look like a fallen tree trying to guard him.

Funny. Purdue keeps saying the B1G is bad for them this year..like we are dragging them down. Clowns.
Their repeated NCAA failures are a huge drag on the B10's national perception. When your conference champion loses to literally the worst team to ever play in the NCAA tournament...people tend to question the strength of that conference.

Which is funny because if you go to either coast all Purdue is known for is choking in the NCAA tournament. Any time Purdue is considered to be the best in your league it's a red flag given their chronic tournament struggles.

IU beat Wyoming in the First Four game. St Mary's was IU's second game of the tournament.

Big Ten finishes the non con as the second ranked conference in the NET despite the media's ongoing narrative that the conference is a shit show.
I'm not the media. The Big Ten is the worst I've seen in about 40 years. Northwestern lost to Chicago St. IU needed a huge comeback at home vs Morehead and has struggled mightily against inferior teams. Michigan has a losing record. Illinois has lost to 2 of the 3 good teams they've played. OSU has one good win. Wisconsin has 2 good wins, but they lost by 25 to Arizona. MSU has been way under par. Penn State is down vs last year. Maryland lost to UAB and Davidson. Nebraska has one good win but lost by 29 to the only ranked team they've played.
Indiana's net scoring differential puts them at the bottom of the league after the pre-season.

Anyone except Purdue who wants a tourney bid will need a lot of conference wins. If it ends up like last year where 12-8 gets you 2nd place, there won't be many bids.

The typical idiots on this board will tout this nearly worthless statistic when it comes to IU ranking, but will pay no attention to their narrative that the B1G blows. This is because we want to ensure if IU does well in B1G play they can say it’s because the conference sucks. Predictable

Was St. Mary's a #17 seed?
That huge 1 point victory at home over Morehead was a major upset! Definitely a blueblood! And I was really impressed by that hard fought victory over Kennesaw! Buy a couple more 5 stars and IU will be unbeatable! LOL

You haven't beat IU in almost 2 years and lost to the worst team to ever play in the tournament your last go around.

Tone deaf much?
