...of the United States Constitution for the removal from Office of President Joe Biden. His mental decline has rendered him incapable of competently executing his Oath of Office. This is evidenced by his abject recklessmess in allowing U.S. long-range ATACMS to be used against Russian territory by Ukraine. This absurd action 1) defies the will of the American people, who just voted for peace instead of continued war in Ukraine and 2) has brought the world to the very brink of nuclear war. President Biden's own words previously acknowledged that such action would lead to World War III. Either President Biden wants World War III or his mental decline has reached the stage where he can no longer keep track of his own positions. Either way this man can not be entrusted with our nation's nuclear trigger.

Russian President Valdimir Putin, in response to the use of U.S. ATACMS and British Stormshadow missiles by Kiev, has lowered the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons by Moscow. And now the U.S. Department of Defense has updated its own Nuclear Deterrence strategy, including 'enhanced readiness of nuclear armed and powered Ohio-class submarines'. According to weapons inspector Scott Ritter, this action signals American readiness to conduct 'a pre-emptive nuclear strike [via Trident Missiles] against Russia’s strategic nuclear forces...to eliminate most of Russia’s nuclear weapons.'

We are nearing the very top of the escalation ladder where the only action left to take is the actual launch of nuclear weapons. We must act swiftly and decisively before it is too late for the United States, Russia, and the rest of the World.

Like Joe Biden makes the decisions. He has zero idea what the hell is going on. I do agree though.

Should have allowed ATACMS a year or more ago. Ukraine has been fighting the war against the aggressor Russia with restrictions Russia doesn’t have. Russia will not use nukes. It’s a line that Putin cannot cross.

As to numbered point 1, do you honestly think only half of the voting public wants peace and they’re the people that voted for Trump. How could you support that notion? First, Trump’s vote total is less than 50 percent now as final vote counts come in and he has a smaller popular vote lead over Harris than HRC’s lead over Trump in 2016. Second, if you’re referring to those that want to cut Ukraine aid off and let Russia defeat and occupy all of Ukraine, that a minority of the party. It’s even a minority of the MAGA faction - the isolationists. The fact is the overwhelming majority of the country, Republican and Democrat want peace in Ukraine and the majority don’t want it via a Russian victory.

Numbered point 2, already addressed.

25th Amendment for doing what most think should have happened over a year ago and something our NATO allies concur with. That's unserious, and it’s nonsense to say a difference between the policy of the President and that of a minority of the MAGAs proves his mentally incapable of remaining President.

The war will end with a negotiated peace if Ukraine isn’t abandoned by NATO (that includes us) and allowing the strikes inside Russia to degrade their logistical capabilities makes Ukraines negotiating position stronger.

There are unwritten rules in proxy conflicts that you don’t strike the sponsor country of either side. China and Russia didn’t fire missiles at the U.S. homeland during Korea or Vietnam. We didn’t fire missiles at Russia when we were backing the mujahideen.

These latest actions are reckless and pointless. These missiles serve no useful purpose in helping Ukraine regain territory.

You are a blood soaked monster.

This isn't a proxy war between us and Russia, it's an actual war between Ukraine and Russia. We certainly have supplied arms to partner nations and allies at war for use against the other country. You should just stop posting. You can certainly stop replying to me because I think your opinions are absolutely worthless. And don't ankle bite - that's pure cowardice.

And Ukraine has no chance of winning this thing. Trump will negotiate the end of this war, if WWIII isn’t active.

It absolutely is a proxy war. There’s no getting around that.

It’s a direct war between Ukraine and Russia. This is a fact. There are many wars we’ve sold, leased or provided weapons to one side to use against and in the other country. Ukraine is fighting for its existence. Those that would tie their hands or cut off military assistance should know that they’re dooming Ukraine’s independence and its citizens to death or oppression.

I agree Putin is too rational to use nukes or to do anything that drastic on the verge of Trump getting into office. This is all gamesmanship since both countries are now going to bitterly fight to get favorable lines ready for the upcoming peace talks.

But isn't it a little inconsistent for you to recognize Putin's rationality here but not w/r/t the notion of him invading an actual NATO country?

"Blood soaked" should be hyphenated there as a phrasal adjective. :)

I always thought the notion of Putin marching beyond Ukraine into NATO was far-fetched.

It is far-fetched if we actually draw lines and assert U.S. power and influence. If we signal otherwise, it's not far-fetched at all.
I think it would still be far-fetched. Given what we've seen of Russian capabilities in Ukraine, Russia would be obliterated by NATO sans the US--NATO forces outnumber US forces 2 to 1 in number, outnumber Russian forces by approx. the same number (?), and they are much more technologically advanced than Russia.

No, I do not want the world to find this out. But Putin is not an idiot.

This isn't a proxy war. Russia is directly involved. Russia sure as hell didn't put a limit on N Vietnamese weapons against our troops.

Don''t invade sovereign countries and the problem goes away.

Russia doesn't have a chance of 'winning', either. Fighting is not going to stop just because we cut off aid. Ukraine will go elsewhere and continue fighting, even if occupied.

What makes the most sense is for Putin to declare he's obtained his objective of destroying Nazis and agreeing to non-militarized areas that he's currently invaded.

Not far fetched considering Trump has expressed his desire to withdraw from NATO and questioned defending NATO countries.
He's never done that. Stop lying. He wants NATO to pay their fair share and has only threatened to withdraw if they don't.

Stop being so disingenuous.

Those comments were accompanied by very reasonable conditions addressing political weaknesses in NATO.

While we are pretty good at modernizing military hardware, the agreements and political softwareNATO rests on has never been addressed or modernized. Except for adding the responsibilities to cover for weak former USSR republics and a few Warsaw Pact countries, NATO not only hasn’t modernized, it has become more bureaucratic.

Yeah, the youngster doesn't understand. "Proxy wars" are generally civil/internecine conflicts where we and our adversaries are supporting opposite sides. Viet Nam, Korea, Afghanistan in the 70s, Syria, Lebanon, all our adventures in Central America, on and on. The Ukraine war is a different animal altogether.

He’s done that, but he’s also expressed a desire to withdraw regardless. This is well reported and I heard it directly from a flag officer who was in the meeting. I just don’t understand how you guys can ignore this and consider him rational about NATO. He doesn’t think the US benefits from being in NATO. He doesn’t understand it.

A proxy war is a military conflict where a third party supports one side in a conflict to influence the outcome. The third party, or proxy, does not usually participate directly in the fighting.

Proxy wars are a way for major powers to compete for resources and influence without directly confronting each other. They can be used to achieve strategic interests or undermine those of an opponent.

Here are some examples of proxy wars:
  • The Cold War: The United States and the Soviet Union indirectly fought each other in several conflicts by providing support to friendly governments. The US usually supported democracy and capitalism, while the Soviet Union supported communism.

    • The Syrian conflict: A local uprising in 2011 led to the Syrian conflict, which was complicated by the involvement of global powers.

    • The war in Ukraine: Some say that the war in Ukraine is a proxy war.

Proxy wars can be dangerous and expensive. They can also have devastating consequences for the people involved, such as families losing their homes, children losing their schools, and communities being displaced.

President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in August of 2019. The INF Treaty - originally signed by the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. in December of 1987 - required both parties to eliminate their ground-launched intermediate-range ballistic and cruise missiles (with intermediate being defined as 500 and 5,500 kilometers).

This is the context which allowed Russia to launch the missiles that hit Dnipropetrovsk in Central Ukraine earlier this week. The launch was essentially a successful test that took place in a live theatre. The missiles were not strictly speaking RS-26s as has been reported. According to Ukrainian intelligence the missiles are hybrid of newer developing technologies - namely the Kedr ICBM and the Yars-M. The introduction of these medium range missiles - which cannot be mitigated by any existing defense platform - acts as a non-nuclear deterrent, although they can be fitted with nuclear warheads.

The bad news is that the insane Russo-phobic Neocons who control the Pentagon and NATO will almost certainly continue to pursue actions that push us all even closer to a nuclear confrontation. Normalcy bias does not negate reality. This is where we are. The fact that the worst hasn't happened (and that we who are rational don't want it to happen) does not make this extremely dangerous situation spontaneously cease to exist.

"What's in it for us?"
Trump doesn't understand that military alliances aren't zero sum. He thinks Europe gets more than us out of NATO, which may be true. But he also seems to think if we pull out, we somehow take all that security with us and become safer, at Europe's expense. Which is nonsense; if we pull out, everyone becomes less safe. Because alliances aren't zero sum; they are greater than the sum of their parts, but only when intact.

He’s not going to withdraw us from NATO. How are you continually lost on almost everything? It’s impressive.

He may not, but my point is that he actually told his senior defense advisors on the Joint Staff and OSD that he wanted to. I know, we can’t take him seriously. Apparently, not even in official meetings.
