“Trump instructs the Treasury to halt penny production”.

Seems like a good move, given the expenses. The nickel is even more of a losing proposition.

If Biden had called for halting penny production, however, there would be outrage that socialism and the deep state was taking over and continuing to transition the USA to a cashless society

I agree. Its sad when a decent idea can't stand on it's own.

It is a good idea. It has been proposed before. Looks like the first bill that would have done that was in 1990.

I saw in Europe they have eliminated their equivalent of a penny. If you pay in cash, it is rounded. Pay by card/check, then the "pennies" are taken in. I suspect that will happen here.

Now if they can get rid of that 9tenths of a coin we have to use at gas stations.

Used to be able to buy a piece of Bazooka bubble gum for a penny. Back when America was great, back at Jerry’s Delicatessen, which Yogi’s replaced, on 10th Street.

Speaking of gas stations......it chaps my ass when their air pump doesn't work or the payment system is out of order. More often than not it seems these pumps arent working and it's always in the dead of winter. Can't tell you how many times I've nearly had frostbite trying to unscrew those little caps.

And remeber when you could get Nutty Bars at the gas station for .25 cents? I thought that was the greatest thing since bread was sliced.

I thought it was The Dow in there before Yogi's, until the cult moved to the east coast.

I don’t know what exactly came after Jerry’s. It was Jerry’s when I left. Came back years later and there was Yogi’s dominating at 10th and Indiana. Used to be a service station on the corner (Gulf, maybe?) and then Jerry’s, which faced McCalla Elementary.
