Front Office Sports - Big Ten Hopes to Earn at Least $1.5B Annually in Media Rights Deal

At nearly $100 million annually per school less overhead/expenses for the Conference, AD and such, a healthy allocation by IU to benefit (pay) all scholarship student-athletes could really boost IU in all competitive sports. Some/many will likely argue that any such disbursements be awarded on the basis of a sport's respective contribution to generating media revenue - for my part I'd like to see a more egalitarian approach, i.e., swimmers, volleyball /soccer/baseball/FB/BB players, track and field, et al., all receive the same 'stipend'. Alternately could create a tiered system so that everyone is guaranteed something above and beyond a scholarship...

Should We Build a Bigger Stadium

When the Big Ten expands to whatever number it ends up being, IU will have the second smallest stadium in the conference. Only Northwestern will be smaller. We already have way too many recruiting challenges that make our situation close to hopeless if we want to compete with the big boys. Yes, our training facilities are top notch so would it now be the time to add twenty or thirty thousand seats to our stadium to give prospects something more to consider when IU recruits them?

All eyes should be on the OL and the RBs

So... we have a competition between 3 QBs, all coming off injuries, being developed by a new OC/QBCoach who doesn't have a proven track record of developing successful QBs.

Sounds like we are going to go with the game managing distributor QB. Whoever wins isn't going to carry the offense on the power of his arm. The offense is going to succeed based on the QBs ability to facilitate the offense.

In other words... it may not matter who the QB is because Walt Bell's previous offenses never had/used/needed a prolific QB to operate.

All eyes should be on the OL and the Running game. The QB is not going to be the headliner.

This Staff Has To Mesh Quickly

CTA brought in a ton of experience this year to the coaching staff.

How these coaches all mesh together when things go south in the heart of the B10 season is key to a good or horrible season.

For instance, if we lose a heartbreaker at Cincy & get smacked head-on by the B10 season, we might never recover.

How our staff pivots in adversity to me is the key of the season. We got the talent & depth..

We need two new coordinators to work their magic through a tough pre-season & nasty big ten grind.

Let's see what happens!!

Go IU!!

Talked to a UNC fan this past week . . .

. . . they're aware that IU's roster is better than it has been, and they have the game at IU on November 30 circled. They're aware of Trayce and Race . . . the guy I talked to wanted to know about X a bit . . . he didn't know that Trayce was Dale's son, but he knew who Dale was. He asked about the 5* frosh . . . I didn't have much to say because I hadn't seen them play . . .

. . . UNC is looking at this as a test of their team, and an early marker for how good their season might be. I didn't have the heart to tell him that UNC beat IU by nine early in the 80-81 national championship run . . . .

Is Obesity A National Security Issue?

This is from 2012 so I assume obesity has gotten even worse, especially among younger people.

I didn’t realize how little K-12 school time is used for physical education. That’s astonishing for me.

Beyond obesity being a national security issue, I don’t see how our healthcare system can possibly handle it in the future, especially considering we are trending toward single payer. Our youth is spoiled beyond belief and we’re in for trouble if things don’t change.
