Thoughts on our leadership

We all know about Coach Cignetti's record as a head coach. Joke all you want about hsi Google comment; but it is a fact. Yes, he is egotistical. Apparently he does something right when you consider all the staff who have stayed with him from school to school and the number of JMU players (and their competitors) who came to IU to play for him. The man has the 4th highest winning percentage among active coaches. Winner.

Look at our QB room. It is loaded with success. Consider the following:

Kurtis Rourke:
*2022 MAC Champion
*Former MAC Offensive Player of Year
*All-MAC 1st Team
*Holy Trinity Academy HS conference champion

Tayven Jackson:
*2x undefeated Indiana 6A state champion
*Won 28 games as starting QB at Center Grove HS

Tyler Cherry:
*Indiana 6A state champion
*23-4 record as starter at Center Grove

Alberto Mendoza:
*2x 1st Team All Miami0Dade County
*26-2 record as starter at Chrsitpher Columbus HS
*2x Florida Class 4 Metro State Champion

Winners all. The coaching staff and QB leadership of this team is filled with people who are accustomed to winning. I believe this is very much going to help us as we play a schedule filled with winnable games. Can't wait for this season to start!

Starting LB features

Walker is gifted: 40” vertical … 22.5 MPH is the pace for a 9.941 100 m dash.
Fisher had a 108 tackle season filling in for the season’s starting LB

The 6-1, 220-pounder will bring the Hoosiers a lot of speed. He clocked a top speed of 22.5 mph on the GPS. He also vertical-jumped 40 inches this offseason.
Together, Walker and Fisher played key roles on a James Madison defense led the nation with 114 tackles for loss and run defense, allowing just 61.5 rushing yards per game.

Fisher and Walker started alongside each other at linebacker last season as James Madison went 11-2 and climbed as high as No. 18 in the AP top-25 poll. The Dukes led the nation with 114 tackles for loss and run defense, allowing just 61.5 rushing yards per game.

Fisher emerged as a starter after an injury to Taurus Jones, and he ended up leading James Madison with 108 total tackles on his way to earning third-team All-Sun Belt honors. He credited those accomplishments to extra film study, improving on the mental side of the game and help from Walker, a 20-game starter over the last two seasons.

May they have as good a season as Micah McFadden and Cam Jones ever had.

Katic and Smith expect to improve in Bosted’s 2nd year

Many believe OL improvement is key to keeping IU’s QBs upright.

With IU's whirlwind offseason and roster movement finally subsiding — including three transfer offensive linemen, four incoming freshman offensive lineman and nine offensive line returners — Bostad is back to work this fall camp, attempting his latest crucial step in turning around IU's blocking unit.

The Hoosiers starting offensive line is certain to look much different than last season, but this isn't Bostad's first rodeo with personnel changes and significant transition. He's found himself in similar situations before, and almost every time he's found success on the other side.

There isn't much the 57-year-old Bostad hasn't experienced in his 34 years of coaching, and he doesn't intend for year two at Indiana to be any different.

"I would say he hasn't changed at all, honestly," Smith said. "We've kept the same coaching points as we did last year, and obviously we saw a good, steady growth from last year from 2022 with him coming on to the staff. So he's kept all the same coaching points, regardless of what the plays are, so we're still going up."

Added Katic: "I think what's so great about him is he prepares us in the meeting room and on the field so much during the week and after practice, and then on game day he's cool. He doesn't talk much but [makes] corrections, and he kind of lets us just do our own thing. And I think that's what I like a lot about him, because he knows he's prepared his guys.

Thomas Sowell - “It’s Not Race, It’s Behavior”

I don’t like the guy who interviews him. But Sowell should run HHS.

Math - she no lie.

Why do white Appalachian kids start even, then fall behind generation after generation?

Same reason 100 years of progress seen in intact black families starts to fail in 1960, continuing to date.

Creed/3 Doors Down

Watched really good concert last night at Ruoff in Noblesville. Creed back on the road after 25 years.

Interesting crowd of folks in their 60s down to 20s. Around 25,000, it was packed.

3 Doors down had American Flag on stage and was prominent in their videos. They actually mentioned Jesus. Seemed odd pairing with Creed.

Crowd broke out in USA chant a few times during the night.

Quick breakdown of the Safety position

I'm hoping that by moving Nic Toomer to FS they've adequately replaced our biggest loss (L.Moore to Ole Miss) of the off season...

Should be fun to watch this group fly around and make plays...

One guy I'll watch with interest is Sanguinetti... He's close to being good if he could become more consistent...
