Looks like Purdue will win

and I’m going to cheer for them to beat Iowa. They had such high expectations this year and they haven’t won anything, so they deserve the B1G tourney championship. . Besides, for our rival I actually like Painter and their players are decent kids.

This said, I’ll be happy to see them exit the NCAA tourney and I’d love for IU to make it further. Purdue and Iowa are too weak defensively to go very far, in my opinion.

4:23 to Play.....IU leading 69 - 61

Iowa had 61 points with 4:23 remaining and IU was leading 69-61. Iowa outscored us 19-8 the rest of the way. In the last 4:23, this is how it went:

Both Teams had 10 possessions. Here is what each team did with it.

IU
- 2 turnovers
- 2 for 6 field goals
- 0 -1 from three
- Free Throws: 4 - 4
- Offensive Boards: 2
- Pts Scored: 8

Iowa
- 1 turnover
- 7 for 9 field goals
- 4 - 4 from three
- Free Throws: 1 -1
- Offensive Rebounds: 2
- Pts Scored: 19

Outside of the bank shot by Bohannon and Iowa shooting lights out and IU continuing to miss open looks, it was this that secured the Iowa win during this stretch.

IU continued to miss wide open looks including the stretch of 3:00 to 2:33 where IU got two offensive rebounds and missed three wide open threes. One by X, then another by X then another by Kopp. Conversely, Iowa converted both of their offensive rebounds into 5 points with a layup and a three. And if going 4 -4 from three wasn't enough, they got another three points on an and one.

A great effort by our team in the tournament. Have to believe our third game in three days led to the 48 points by Iowa in 2H with 19 coming in the final 4:23. This was compounded by not having Geronimo. We needed his minutes and defense and rebounding. But in the end, the final 4:23 was really a depiction of our team's struggles all season. The inability to hit wide open shots. Period. Tip your hat to Iowa. They never once looked panicked or nervous. Having shooters helps build confidence for sure. Tough to win when your opponent hits 14 threes for over 40%.

Hopefully our three game performance was enough to get us into the dance!

Cool story about President Whitten.

After the game yesterday, I was exiting Gainbridge going to the Virginia parking garage. There was a bunch of black suburbans shuttling people out and blocking a few lanes of traffic. I started jogging that way to cross instead of waiting to cross at the crosswalk. After getting almost half way across, I saw President Whitten about to get into a truck. I yelled "how did you like that Mrs. President!" Mind you, still jogging in a kind of busy crossway so I break eye contact and continue to make sure I am not about to get drilled (happened before in college running to the IU Duke game). I hear her yell "hey hey hey". I instantly think, oh shit am I back in HS, and about to get scolded about running in traffic to be safe???? No, she had her hand in the air, and demanded a high five.

Pretty cool to see that passion in our president. Welcome change in my book!!!

As happy as I am about yesterday, there is one thing ...

that I wish the staff would address with this bunch and that would be the stupid Jordan tongue wagging stuff. It's petty, yes, but it's also very immature and IMO falls into a culture building thing. I'm so happy about recent progress, but they need to nip that behavior in the bud. There is one, exactly one player in the history of basketball that earned the right to do that and I always thought it was childish of him at the time. With our bunch, somebody is going to get hurt doing that crap

So this is what it’s like…

For a hundred years this weekend has been a yard and house chores weekend in preparation for 3 weekends dedicated fully to couch potato status…. But it’s 40 degrees with 25mph winds in northeast GA today.. God is clearly a Hoosier fan and is putting me on the couch for … what? An actual I’ll be damned BTT semifinal. The curse that our most beloved coach may have created in the late 90’s could be broken?

+6 for a chance to play on Selection Sunday.

This team is focused, and has fully bought in to one goal. Win the big ten tournament. They all said they could do it on Thursday, and have shown that they can play with anyone in the country to cement their rightful place in the dance.

I told @Jim Coyle before Thursday’s game that Iowa was the scariest team in this thing. The twins are both going to the league, and Iowa looks like a real final four threat.

The Hoosiers D is what is gonna win this game. An all out effort to guard the three point line and dare them to bring it into the paint.

Your Indiana Hoosiers are playing on Saturday of champ week ladies and gents. Spark one up, this shit hasn’t happened since I was a senior in High School. I’m damn near 37!!!

ALLLLLLLL Aboard!!!

Illini fan here. I come in peace!

Hey good game guys. I sometimes like to jokingly talk a little harmless trash talk on these forums but not today. That was a very very humbling loss you guys gave us. Obviously I wanted things to go a bit differently (that's an understatement lol) but you guys definitely deserved to win. The refs were giving my Illini all the help they could get (with all the ticky tacky foul calls on IU) and not to mention we couldn't make even the easiest shots imaginable (I think there was like a 10 minute scoring drought we went thru during the 1st half) Just a pathetic effort on our part but a lot of it had to do with your players playing great defense thru out the entire game and making shots when it mattered down the stretch.

I think your win over us gets you in the Big Dance but I've been wrong before of course so we shall see.

Also, I think Woodson is a legit damn good coach. I haven't followed how your recruiting has been gong as of late but he comes across as a total professional and certainly a big upgrade over that little clueless twerp Archie at least. I think you guys should give him a chance to clean up the mess that Archie left you guys in. Just my 2 cents.

Anyways, good game and here's to no injuries the rest of the way!

Is it possible we're not "in" yet?

Texas A&M beat Auburn today...

Virginia Tech is still in it...

Wyoming is still in it...

Oklahoma beat Baylor yesterday, and has Texas Tech and potentially Kansas ahead of them...

SMU could win a few games...

VCU and Dayton both are still in it...

Is Michigan still ahead of us? Notre Dame? Rutgers?

I don't know why I'm so pessimistic, but man, if 2-3 of the teams above either win their conf tourneys, or make it to their finals, and we happen to lose to Iowa...I'm worried we're not as safe as most of us are saying we are.
