Pitching comparisons from 2021 to 2022 on returning players...

Here are comparisons from last season to this season on returning pitchers to our bullpen, and I only listed the pitchers that have seen the most action so far. This just compares a few of the key stats. The 2021 stats are for the entire season of 44 games, with the 2022 stats current through today's games with 30 games played so far. I didn't include HBPs but for the season we are at 62 in 30 games, while we had just 31 in 44 games last season. In BBs, we are at 180 in 30 games, while we were at the same 180 BBs for the season in 44 games last season. On WPs, we are at 43 in 30 games so far and last season we had just 26 total in 44 games.

17-0 to another bottom feeder?

When your arch rival de-pants you in public, it is enough for fans to go nuclear. I'm there. I had a pet emergency yesterday so didn't get to watch or check in at all. Seeing 17-0 this morning makes me want to trash the whole enterprise. But I think my overall reaction is simple sadness. I honestly cannot fathom how they handed a top-tier program to a local guy with good connections and it's fallen hopelessly apart in a very short timeframe. Another IU program taking shelter in the cellar. Damn.

IU@Purdue, Game 3: PU wins 16-15 and takes the series in a battle of struggling bullpens.

In the 1st, Whalen opens the game with an infield hit. Glasser then hit a 2-run homer to give IU a 2-0 lead with no outs. Ellis just missed a homer off the top of the LF wall getting a double, and he moved to 3rd on a passed ball. Ellis scored on a single by Tibbitts and that would be it for IU in the 1st as IU takes a 3-0 lead,

In PU's 1st, Nathan Stahl is on the mound for IU and the first two batters reached on a walk and a single. After a K, PU's Thompson hit a 3-run homer to tie the game. Stahl got another K for the 2nd out and then gave up a single, but the runner on 1st ended up getting picked off to end the inning.

This is going to be a game of two struggling bullpens to see which one can out-pitch the other and it could get ugly before this game is over with.

I had forgotten Dave Barry was still around.

IU@Purdue, Game 2: IU rebounds with a much needed 10-3 win..

Another schedule change as they are playing a DH today instead of the single game on Monday.

Purdue scored two unearned runs in the 1st aided by a throwing error by Pyne at 3rd, along with three singles by the Boilers. Former Hoosier Toetz, had one of the Boilers RBIs. IU struck for three runs in the 3rd, as a walk to Jessee and then a 2-run homer by Murrison tied the game at 2-2. IU then loaded the bases on two singles and a hit batter with no outs. Ellis hit into a DP which scored the runner at 3rd to make it 3-2, IU. Pyne struck out to end IU' half of the inning as IU missed on a big chance to grab a big lead there.

In the Boilers 3rd, Brehmer got the first two batters on a GO and a K, but then hit a batter to put a man on with two outs. What's an IU game without a hit batter by our pitcher. After the hit batter, Toetz got a single to put runners on the corners with two outs. Brehmer then got a K to end the inning with no damage done.
