IU pulls Whiteaker for freshman RHP Connor Foley out of Jasper IN and he is a big kid at 6'5 and 225 lbs.

Foley then walk a batter to put a runner on 1st and one out.
Appelwick then flied out for the 2nd out and a man on 1st.

B3rd:

Top of the order is up. Glasser lined out to CF.
Jessee singled to right center to put a man on with one out.

A Jessee GO ended the inning with IU up 9-1.

4th Inning:

T4th:

IU brings in LHP Nathan Ball, a transfer from Youngstown St. Ball walked the leadoff batter and then gave up a single to LF. A bunt single loads the bases with no outs and Mercer goes to the bullpen. IU brings in freshman RHP Cooper Katskee and the first batter he sees hits the top of the CF wall for a double which scores two runs with a third runner being tagged out at home by Ellis. Another double scored a run with a man on 2nd and one out. A single put runners on the corners, but Katskee K'd the next two batters to end the inning. Both pitchers used really struggled, but Katskee rebounded to get the last two outs on Ks. It could have been worse than just three runs scored by MU.

5th Inning:

T5th:

With Mercer changing pitchers like they do at a MLB all-star game, freshman RHP Brayden Risedorph comes in for IU.
Risedorph walked Appelwick the lead off hitter. A K and a GO resulted in the first two outs with the runner taking 2nd. Another K ended the Redhawks side of the inning.

B5th:

The No. 9 hitter Cerny flied out and Glasser hit a triple at the top of the order.
A SF by Jessee scored Glasser to make it 11-4 with two outs.
Pyne was hit so hard by a pitch that the ball made it up into the crowd.
MU went to the bullpen again and Ellis grounded out to 1B to end the inning with IU up 11-4.

6th Inning:

T6th:

Mercer went to his 7th pitcher of the game bringing in RHP Craig Yoho, a R-Sr transfer from Houston.
Yoho put them down in order on two K's and a lineout to Yoho.

B6th:

It's the 5 thru 7 hitters for IU and IU goes down in order to end the inning and it was the first 1-2-3 inning for the Redhawks.

With 10 pitchers used so far in the game by both teams, this will end up being a fairly long game.

7th Inning:

T7th: Yoho was on the mound again and he gave up a leadoff single. He then K'd the next batter before giving up another single to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. Yoho K'd another batter for the 2nd out as Yoho sandwiched singles around strikeouts so far in this inning. Another K ends MU's half of the inning.

B7th:

It's the 8, 9, and 1 hitters for IU. The Redhawks bring in their 8th pitcher of the game. The freshman Devin Taylor came in to pinch hit for Colopy and he K'd.
Cerny was hit by a pitch to put a man on and one out and the top of the order was up.
Cerny stole 2nd and Glasser K'd for the second out.
Jessee clubbed his 2nd HR of the game, a two-run shot to make it 13-4 with two outs.
Pyne singled with Goforth pinch running for him and Ellis K'd to end the inning with IU up 13-4.

8th Inning:

T8th:

Luke Hayden came in for Yoko who had five Ks in 2 IP. Hayden gave up a leadoff double and then the runner went to 3rd on a WP. A GO for the 1st out scored the runner from 3rd to make it 13-5. A single with the runner thrown out at 2nd after trying for two bases and a K ended the top of the inning.

B8th:

IU went down in order.

9th Inning:

B9th:

IU went to their 9th pitcher of the game in Cooper Hellman and he K'd the first batter and then got a pop out for two outs, but he hit a batter and then gave up a single to put two men on. He ended the game on a GO with no damage done.

Mercer said before the game that he was going to use a lot of pitchers and he wasn't lying since he brought in nine pitchers. Manase got the win after pitching a scoreless 1st. That is pretty much what these midweek games are about--getting a look at the young players and giving them game experience.

IU had 14 hits and had four players with multi-hits.

Jessee was 3 for 4 with two HRs and four RBIs
Pyne was 3 for 4
Glasser was 2 for 5 and two RBIs
Whalen was 2 for 4

In addition to Jessee's two homers, Ellis had a double and Glasser and Tibbetts both had triples. Of the nine batters in the order that started the game, only Mathison failed to get a hit.
