I'm assuming he got a nice NIL deal. Also a smart decision on his part because he was firmly established as our alpha receiver. If he had gone to one of the football factories loaded with 4-5 star receivers he might have gotten lost in the shuffle. He has a really high ceiling and will get lots of balls thrown his way. Awesome that he's back!
My biggest concern was that Michigan had gotten involved. I'm sure that he's going to reap some financial rewards but I do believe the kid loves IU.
Omar Cooper could even be better, regardless Omar is going to be good next year.
McCulley turned away offers from Texas A&M, Kentucky, UCLA, Nebraska, Michigan, So. Florida, Miss. State, NC State, So. Carolina. & Penn. State
Very good news. When it comes to the IU players in the portal at this point, I’m convinced that if Cignetti really wants them back then he’s getting them back. Not worried about it anymore.
This might be a sign that the tide is turning @ IU due to the new coaching staff? I hope so. It sure feels that way to me.
Kid is really gonna learn his craft now with a QB that can get him the ball on time and in the right spots. He’s well on his way to the NFL with this decision.

I always read this kind of comment as a negative, but it’s actually not in today’s f-ed up world of college athletics. Still trying to change my mindset.

It is great getting him back and really helps IU's offense in 2024. I am very excited about the coming season for IUFB.
I'm greedy... I want him not only to come back (which he has) but also continue to get better on a daily basis... The sky's the limit for him as long as he doesn't limit himself...
Coach said there will be no self-imposed limitations.

Hopefully the Cignetti offense will showcase his talents. With the latest QB grab, it's easy to imagine a big year offensively speaking for McCulley.

Money is the reason for most any player worth a darn on any team. So if that's sad, then it's time to prepare to be super duper sad.
I’m good with it especially if money was “a reason” vs “the reason”.
I have no idea what his economic background is, or what he is getting via NIL, but who can blame a kid for considering (as an example) a situation with 6 figure potential vs a situation that virtually pays zero? Hell, a six figure difference can turn the head of a mid-career 40 year old, why should we be sad when it influences a 20 year old?
It’s GREAT to hear he is staying. Offensively things are looking up if we can land 2-3 additional quality OL.
If they'd both be back for only one year, I think the money would've been better spent on Camper (for cheaper) with the savings sprinkled elsewhere.
If we have Williams, Cooper, McCulley, and Camper next year, we might have a top 5 receiver room in the conference.
I like Camper, but my guess is Coach Cig passed due to his history injuries.
I hope camper decides to return to IU. There are several more that I hope make the same decision.
This kid lined up opposite of McCulley with Cooper in the slot could make for fun times. Will likely be coveted by everyone.
Camper might just be caught up in a scholarship numbers issue...
I'd see if we could find someone, or several someone's, to float him a NIL offer double of what his scholarship is worth and see if we could get him back as a (Ultra) Preferred Walk-On...
In my opinion, he's, by far, the best WR we have when he's healthy. I'd do everything possible to bring him back if I had vote.
The HC's dilemma is how to build a winner with a limited number of scholarships (85).
Cignetti has to consider who will be available on game day when utilizing those last few scholarships... It's a has to be a cold hard calculation when making those kind of calls...
There's no way in absolute hell that Cam Camper is not worthy of a scholarship at Indiana. He is probably one of the 10 best receivers that we've had this century.

Camper has been good when he’s healthy, which isn’t often, but he’s way too high on that list.
Camper hasn't stayed healthy to be considered top shelf, IMO. He is VERY good, though. Had he stayed healthy, he's one of the best.
