1st Inning:

Seti Manase is on the mound for IU.

T1st:

IU goes down in order.

B1st:

LBSU goes down in order

2nd Inning:

T2nd:

IU goes down in order again.

B2nd:

The leadoff man for the Dirtbags singled and then took 2nd on another error by Mathison in LF and Mathison is really having fielding problems after committing two errors yesterday.

After two GOs with the runner taking 3rd, a double scored the run. A flyout ended the inning.

3rd Inning:

T3rd:

Ellis led off with a single. Cerny reached on a FC with Ellis out at 2nd. Cerny was caught stealing for the 2nd out. Serruto singled with the top of the order up and Glasser flied out to retire the side.

B3rd:

The leadoff hitter reached on a single. Manase got a flyout for the 1st out with the runner holding at 1st. A walk after a 1-2 count put runners on 1st and 2nd and one out. A GO for the 2nd out moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd.

A ball went off the glove of Glasser for IU's 2nd error of the game which scored an unearned run. A double scored two more unearned runs.

A HR scored two more unearned runs as five runs have scored after the error.

Another HR was charged as an unearned run as six runs have now scored after two outs as the roof caved in on IU, and this looked like another one of those days where nothing was going to go right.

Mercer pulled Manase and brought in freshman Brayden Risedorph who got a K to end a disastrous inning where six runs scored after two outs.

4th Inning:

T4th:

Whalen reached on an error by 2B. Jessee grounded out with Whalen reaching 2nd. Pyne K'd for the 2nd out.

Mathison singled to score Whalen for IU's first run which goes down as an unearned run. Tibbitts K'd to retire the side.

B4th:

Risedorph faced the 9 thru 2 batters. Risedorph walked the leadoff batter. The 1st out was on a FC at 2B with a runner at 1st. A WP moved the runner to 2nd and a GO moved the runner to 3rd with two outs. A GO ended the inning.

5th Inning:

T5th:

IU is not out of this game, but they need to start chipping away at the lead with the bottom of the order up and the bottom of the order has 2 of IU's 3 hits. IU goes down in order.

B5th:

Luke Hayden relieved Risedorph and he got the leadoff man on a line out and he then hit a batter to put a runner on with one out.

A single put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. A passed ball moved the runner on 2nd to 3rd and then a WP moved the runner on 1st to 2nd.

A single scored both runners. A K and a runner caught stealing ends the inning.

6th Inning:

T6th:

The top of the order is up and Glasser and Whalen ground out. Jessee and Pyne got back-to-back singles with two outs.

A Mathison walk then loaded the bases with two outs and Tibbitts up.

Tibbitts walked to score a run and that chased the Dirtbag starter with the Dirtbags bringing in a lefty to face the lefty Ellis.

Ellis singled to score both Jessee and Pyne, with runners on the corners with two outs. Cerny grounded out to retire the side.

B6th:

Hayden was back on the mound and he gave up a lead off walk and that brought up the top of the order. A SAC bunt moved the runner to 2nd with one out.

An infield single put runners on the corners with one out. Hayden then picked off the runner on 1st for two outs.

Another infield hit scored the runner from 3rd with a runner on 1st and two outs.

Hayden commits IU's third error of the day on a throwing error in an attempted pickoff. Hayden, who was getting behind hitters, walked the next man to put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs, and Mercer goes to the bullpen to bring in Whiteaker. A flyout ends the inning.

7th Inning:

T7th:

Serruto got his 2nd hit of the day, a single, to lead off and that brought up the top of the order.

Glasser walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Whalen flied out with the runners holding.

Jessee lined out on a diving grab by the 1B for the 2nd out with runners still at 1st and 2nd.

Glasser was out at 2B on a FC to retire the side after IU had the first two batters reach in the inning.

B7th:

Whiteaker is back on the mound to face the 6 thru 8 hitters and he gets the first two batters before walking a man to put a runner on 1st and two outs.

A single puts runners on the corners with two outs. A foul out to Serruto ends the inning.

8th Inning:

T8th:

It's the 5 thru 7 hitters for IU and the Dirtbags bring in a new pitcher. IU went down in order.

B8th:

Foley came in for Whiteaker and he gave up a lead off single. I wasn't sure what happened in the events after the lead off single, but IU got out of the inning without any damage done. They had Cerny charged with an error on a throw which was IU's 4th error of the day.

9th Inning:

T9th:

IU is down to their last three outs with the 8 thru 1 hitters up. Cerny flied out to lead off. Serruto got his third hit of the game to put a man on. Murrison pinch ran for Serruto and Glasser walked to put two on. IU hit into a DP to end the game.

It is tough watching some of the guys having such rough starts to the season. I figured our pitching would be a big question mark but I counted on our hitting to lead the way. Our fielding has been very shaky as well. Well, it is a long season and I still feel we will put it all together. They may have to splice Mathison and Colopy together. Mathison's bat with Colopy's glove! LOL.
Go Hoosiers!!

IU has gone 1-2 in each of the first three weekends of the season. A disastrous 3rd inning was the difference in this game as IU gave up six runs after a fielding error with two outs.

Serruto and Ellis had five of IU's eight hits. Serruto went 3 of 4 at the plate while Ellis was 2 of 4 with 2 RBIs and they were the only multi-hit players today.

Manase did not have a good game as he went 2.2 IP, 6 Hits, 7 runs with 1 earned, 1 BB, and 2 Ks. Of the 6 hits given up by Manase, two were doubles and two were HRs. Of the 6 unearned runs in the 3rd, only one of them came in to score on the error itself. With two outs, Manase couldn't get that third out, giving up a double and the back-to-back home runs and being pulled with Risedorph coming in to get that final out.

Hayden was the only other pitcher to give up runs and he also had a bad outing. He went 1.2 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs all earned, 2 BBs, 1 K, 1 WP, and 1 hit batter. Hayden constantly got behind batters and of the 45 pitches thrown, 21 were strikes. Hayden also had one of IU's errors on a pick off attempt.

Mathison had one of the four errors and it was his third error in the last two games of the tournament, having two yesterday.
