LHP Ty Bothwell is on the mound for IU with an ERA of 9.00 in 45.0 IP and a WHIP of 1.33 with an OBA of .162. After two straight good starts, he was hit hard against PSU in his last start. Stadler is behind the plate. Mathison, Pyne, and Mitchell are at the top of the order with Cerny, Taylor, and Brenczewski at the middle of the order, and Stadler, Oliver, and Sefcik (DH) at the bottom of the order.

Connor Foley is out for the series with an injury with no specifics given. That probably explains his poor outing against PSU last weekend.

For Minnesota (15-16, 3-6), RHP Will Semb is on the mound with an ERA of 8.49 in 41.1 IP and a WHIP of 1.72 with an OBA of .287.

It's 39 and mostly cloudy with the wind WNW at 7 mph with gusts to 11 mph.

Anybody know when Tibbitts and Shephard might be back?

Good luck in finding out any specific information on injuries from this staff. We found out today that both Foley and Wiggins are out with some kind of injury with Wiggins getting hurt in batting practice, and naturally, they wouldn't say exactly what the problem was with them.

Iowa, just the other day, said that Brody Brecht was dealing with a slight oblique injury. Do you think a person would get information like that out of IU's staff? No way.

We needed a strong start by Bothwell today with a doubleheader to be played tomorrow and with IU using just two pitchers, we will have a well rested bullpen for the DH. We found out the injury list had grown with Foley and Wiggins now on the injury list to join Tibbitts and Shepard, and no reason was given for their injury, at least I didn't hear anything.

We outhit the Gophers 11 to 3 and we were 11 for 37 for a team batting average of .297 and 5 of our 11 hits were doubles, while the Gophers were 3 of 30 for an average of .100 and their lone run was on a solo homer. We had three players with multiple hits,

Brenczewski - 2 for 5 with two doubles and 1 RBI.

Pyne - 3 for 5 with a double and a run scored.

Sefcik - 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Mathison - 1 for 5 with a two-run homer.

Mitchell - 1 for 5 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Taylor - 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.

IU did not have an error while the Gophers had two errors.

Bothwell pitched a dominate game and should be in the running for the B1G Pitcher of the Week come Monday. Vogel had two good innings to close it out. With Foley out, we are going to need more starts like this out of Bothwell and he has had three good starts out of his last four starts. There were no WPs or hit batters by Bothwell and Vogel. They also combined for 16 strikeouts.

Bothwell - 7.0 IP, 2 hits to include a solo homer and one earned run, 13 Ks, and 4 BBs.

Vogel - 2.0 IP, 1 hit and no earned runs, 3 Ks, and 1 BB.

On the positive side, iubase.com posted that Foley didn't travel with the team due to tightness. He was taking the week off and he is expected to be available next weekend against Rutgers at The Bart.

Great pitching performance, but against the worst team in the B10. Need to sweep Minny and get on a serious roll to have any chance at post season.

Watched the game replay late last night. Very nice to see Bothwell completely control a game. It's weird how he can be so dominant one game and so average (or below) the next. He's always had pretty electric stuff.

Let’s wear out the Gopher bullpen in the first game of today’s double header and sweep the Gophers.
Apparently IU got worn out, but chased the nightcap starting pitcher in the top of the 1st after scoring 4 runs.

Win the split.
