IU opened the 1st and after Doanes grounded out, IU got four singles by Glasser, Whalen, Pyne and Colopy, along with one walk and a hit batter, as IU took a 3-0 lead to start the game. They took a 2-0 lead in the 1st in the earlier game, so hopefully this game comes out with a better result.

In Troy's 1st, Modugno walked the first two batters he faced on a 3-2 count and a 3-1 count to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. He then walked another batter after having a 1-2 count on him and loaded the bases with no outs. Modugno then struck out the next two batters to leave the bases loaded with two outs; however, a single through the infield scored two runs with runners still on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Modugno then walked another batter on a 3-1 count to load the bases again with two outs. Another single scored two more runs as Troy took the lead at 4-3 and still had runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Mercer had finally seen enough as he went to the bullpen to bring in Reese Sharp. Modugno's PC was at 39 and he had given up four walks and two singles to go along with the 2 Ks and all four runs given up were earned. Sharp got the final out on a fly out. Both starters in this game got off to shaky starts with Modugno not even being able to finish the 1st.

In IU's 2nd, Doanes walked but got himself in a rundown after getting picked off 1st. Glasser then singled for his 2nd hit of the game, but two fly outs ended it for IU.

In Troy's 2nd, Sharp got the first two outs on a pop up and a fly out, but then he hit a batter to put a runner on 1st and two outs, but Sharp got a K to end the inning. IU pitchers have hit four batters in both games today and we have a way to go in this one.

Tibbetts opened IU's 3rd with a leadoff homer to tie the game at 4-4. Two ground outs and a K ended IU's half of the inning.

In Troy's 3rd, Sharp took them down in order and despite the hit batter, he has looked good in his 2.1 IP so far.

IN IU's 4th, Glasser got a two-out infield single to put a man on first, but Whalen lined out to RF to end IU's half of the inning. Glasser is now 3-3 at the plate with all hits being singles.

Sharp continues to look sharp as he takes them down in order on a ground out and 2 K's in Troy's 4th to end the inning.

With IU batting in the 5th, Troy has gone to their bullpen and they bring in a lefty with a 7.11 ERA in 6.1 IP. With two outs, Pyne singled for his 2nd hit of the day to put a runner on 1st with two outs, but Colopy struck out to end the inning. IU has outhit Troy 8 to 2 in the game, but thanks to the four walks in the first inning, the game is tied.

In Troy's 5th, Sharp continues to mow them down in order with IU coming up in the 6th.

IU goes down in order in the 6th.

In Troy's 6th, Sharp got the first two batters out, but the walked a batter to put a man on 1st with two outs. Until that walk, Sharp had recorded 9 straight outs without a batter reaching. But that walk ended up biting IU as a double scored the guy from first who was running on contact and Troy has taken the lead 5-4 on just three hits. Walks have cost us dearly in this game so far.

IU went down in order in the 7th. Kraft has replaced Sharp on the mound for IU.

Here we go again in Troy's 7th. Sharp, after getting the first two outs, walked a batter to put a man on and two outs which mirrors what happened in the previous inning when Troy took the lead after the walk scored. IU has gone to the bullpen to bring in Hayden. The runner who walked also stole 2nd and for the second straight inning a two-out walk ended up scoring on a double with Troy now up 6-4 on just four hits. Another double made it 7-4 before IU got the final out. IU has given up three runs in the last two inning after registering two outs in the inning.

In IU's 8th, a foul-out, a double by Pyne, and then two Ks ended IU's half of the inning. Stahl replaces Hayden in the 8th.

In Troy's 5th, Stahl hit a batter, IU's 5th hit batter in the double-header, but got three outs to take it to the 9th, as IU is just three outs away from getting swept.

In IU's 9th, a walk by Doanes who took 2nd on a wild pitch and a hit batter put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs with Ellis up, but Ellis grounded out to end the game. IU got swept after losing on a pitcher's duel in game one and they lost the 2nd game of the double-header today because of the walks which absolutely killed us. Troy got four runs in the 1st because of four walks and chased Modugno after 0.2 IP, and they took the lead in the 6th after a two-out walk scored. Two more scored in the 7th after again a two-out walk put a man on who scored, and another run scored on back-to-back doubles.

Here is a recap of the double-header along with links to both box scores. IU faces a good Kentucky team on Tues. that is currently 14-3. At least we won't be facing their starting rotation since it's a midweek game. Hopefully, our midweek starter is a little better than their midweek starter.
