It's RHP Luke Sinnard on the mound for IU and he has an ERA of 3.82 in 33 IP.

RHP Jaden Henline is on the mound for PSU and he has an ERA of 3.47 in 23.1 IP.

Ellis is the DH with Serruto behind the plate.

It's 61 degrees at game time and sunny with winds at 10 mph out of the SW and blowing out to LF.

3rd Inning:

T3rd:

It's the 2 thru 4 hitters up for IU. Pyne reached on a single to lead off.

A FC gets Pyne at 2nd with Taylor at 1st.

Tibbitts doubled to left center to score Taylor from 1st with one out.

Ellis grounded out with Tibbitts moving to 3rd. Cerny grounded out in a close play at 1st to retire the side.

B3rd:

Sinnard gave up his 2nd homer of the game to the No. 9 hitter to tie the game again. He then gave up a double to the top of the order. All three hits given up by Sinnard have been extra base hits.

Sinnard then gave up a slow roller infield hit to put runners on the corners with no outs. Risedorph is warming up in the bullpen.

Sinnard is not fooling anyone today and he gives up a RBI single to give PSU the lead with runners still on the corners and no out. PSU has had four straight hits.

Sinnard got a DP ball with another run scoring from 3rd with two outs. It was IU's 8th DP of the season which is last in the B1G right now.

Sinnard then got his first K of the game to end the inning and IU is probably fortunate to only give up two runs.

5th Innng:

T5th:

It was the top of the order up for IU and Glasser walked to lead off. Pyne fouled out and Taylor flied out for two outs and Glasser still at 1st.

Tibbitts singled to runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs, and Tibbitts is 3 for 3 so far on the game.

Ellis K'd to retire the side stranding two runners.

B5th:

It's the 9, 1, and 2 hitters up. Sinnard got a flyout and pop out for two outs. Sinnard then walked a batter to put a runner on.

A single put runners on the corners with two outs. A GO ended the inning.

6th Inning:

T6th:

PSU goes to the bullpen to bring in RHP Travis Luensman with an ERA opf 3.45 in 28.2 IP.

Cerny led off and was hit by a pitch.

Jessee K'd and Whalen was hit by a pitch to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.

Serruto K'd for the 2nd out with the top of the order up in Glasser. Glasser K'd to retire the side, and IU hasn't done much of anything at the plate since they scored in the 3rd.

B6th:

IU went to the bullpen to bring in RHP Brayden Risedorph with an ERA of 3.95 in 13.2 IP, and he faced the 5 thru 7 hitters.

Risedorph K'd the leadoff hitter. A single put a runner on with one out. Serruto held on to a foul tip for the 2nd out with a runner still at 1st. A K ended the inning.

PSU 4 IU 2

7th Inning:

T7th:

It's the 2 thru 4 hitters up for IU. Pyne singled to lead off.

Taylor K'd on a full count for the first out.

Tibbitts singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out, and Tibbitts is 4 for 4 on the day right now.

Ellis and Cerny both K'd to retire the side and while IU has outhit PSU, they have stranded 10 baserunners and are running out of outs. The two solo homers by PSU are the difference in game so far.

B7th:

Risedorph is back on the mound and he faced the 9, 1, and 2 hitters. Risedorph got the first two hitters on GOs.

A two-out single puts a runner on. A hit batter put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs.

After getting the first two hitters, a single, at hit batter, and another single scored a run to make it 5-2, with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

Another single scored two runs to make it 7-2 with PSU scoring three runs after Risedorph got the first two batters in the inning.

Yet another single put runners on the corners with two outs.

Mercer had seen enough as Risedorph just couldn't get that 3rd out in the inning and he brings in RHP Adrian Vega with an ERA of 6.75 in 9.1 IP. Of 12 hits that Vega has given up this season so far, six have been for extra bases.

A GO ended the inning with three runs scoring after two outs.

8th Inning:

T8th:

It's the bottom of the order up for IU. Jessee flied out for the first out. Whalen and Mathison who was pinch hitting for Serruto both K'd to retire the side.

9th Inning:

T9th:

IU is down to their last three outs with the top of the order up. Glasser opened the inning with another IU K.

Pyne then K'd for the 2nd out. Taylor was hit by a pitch to put a runner on. Tibbitts walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs.

A WP moved runners to 2nd and 3rd with two outs. Ellis grounded out to end a forgettable game by IU.

I am not sure which former Wright State is dumber. Penn's States Rob Cooper or IU's Jeff Mercer and we are about to find out.

For Mercer, I have no problem tossing Sinnard out there but you better damn well hit strong and win the game and IU did not. This is where trying to piece together a pitching rotation two innings at a time can be a problem and why I have been so vocal that long term this year it is going to likely be a problem.

Cooper on the other hand may have out-dumbed Mercer by throwing his only two good starters in ONE game now. What has he thinking? That first guy did very well and with the way IU was hitting not sure why he didn't close it out with his pen. If he had saved that second guy as he should have, he could have pitched him in one of the last two games and almost certainly won the series. Now PSU is down to a starter who only throws a couple innings similar to Manase and another guy who has struggled. They also only have two good guys in their bullpen. Despite the Hoosiers trying to piece it together going forward they actually have more depth guys who can do it.

We are about to see who made the bigger mistake by going all out to win game one more than they likely needed to. One of these two managers did something really dumb and we are about to find out who? Does Wright State not train their managers to put together a game properly?

There's not much to say about this game as IU couldn't get anything going at the plate. IU had 8 hits and stranded 12 runners, and they struck out 12 times. IU had two multi-hit players:

Tibbitts was 4 for 4 with a double, and had the only two RBIs on the game.
Pyne was 2 for 5.
Taylor had a triple for his only hit of the day.

The 2 thru 4 spots in the batting order were 7 of 13, but the 5 thru 9 spots went 1 for 17.

There were no errors on the game.

As far as pitching goes, IU had not lost a game this season when Sinnard is on the mound until today and he got the loss. Risedorph got the first two batters in the 7th and then fell apart not being able to get that third out while giving up three runs before being relieved.

Sinnard went 5 IP, 6 Hs, 4 runs all earned, 2 Ks, and 2 BBs. He gave up three XBHs to include a double and two solo homers.

Risedorph went 1.2 IP, 5 Hs, 3 runs all earned, 3 Ks, 0 BBs, and a hit batter.

Vega had a clean 1.1 IP to finish out the game.
