Assuming that those players who have declared they are returning do so, we will be testing Woodson's apparent strategy for the third or fourth time.

For years one and two, this strategy worked OK with TJD, Race, and the other players he inherited. This year with a team largely of his selection, and despite Ware's huge improvement, it did not work as well. Next year will be a fair test as the retainees appear to provide a stronger base on which to build from the portal.
Interestingly enough, even if it works next year, this strategy depends on the same portal crapshoot every year. Personally, I prefer Coach Moren's approach of building a more reliable team culture with less dependence on additions, as opposed to Woodson's annual gamble on temporary employees. We shall see.
