Sounds like it was running from/to DC. Amtrak is passenger trains, not subway system.

I'm fine, but thanks for asking! I don't work in Philly, but I have taken Amtrak from Philly to NYC many times. Not that particular train, but the same route. It sounds like the train was traveling over 100 mph an a curve that was graded for 50. No wonder it flew off the tracks. I don't know if the conductor was killed or not, and there are still people missing. Last I heard there were seven confirmed dead.

Accident? Drugs? Suicide? This will be interesting as the investigation unfolds.

We will be going to NYC in June. By train....

More info. It looks like the engineer (not the conductor) attempted a full-stop with the emergency brakes seconds before the train left the tracks. He has now lawyered up. The conductor survived and is supposed to make a statement tomorrow.
