3rd Inning:

T3rd:

It's the 9, 1, and 2 hitters up with Risedorph back out on the mound. Risedorph K'd the leadoff man. An infield single put a man on and Risedorph committed an error on a pickoff attempt to move the runner to 2nd and one out.

Pyne had a chance for a DP on a sharply hit ball, but he dropped the ball at 3B and runners were safe on the corners with two errors in the inning and one out.

Glasser got the man at 2nd on a grounder but they couldn't complete the DP with an unearned run crossing the plate because of the 1st error.

A double and a GO out retired the side with the unearned run giving BU a 1-0 lead.

B3rd:

Serruto popped out to lead off.

Glasser singled and Jessee singled with Glasser thrown out trying to reach 3rd for two outs with Jessee advancing to 2nd. Pyne K'd to end the inning.

4th Inning:

T4th:

Risedorph put them down in order.

B4th:

It's the 4 thru 6 hitters up for IU. Mathison led off by reaching on an error and Tibbitts hit into a DP for two outs. Ellis grounded out to end the inning.

5th Inning:

T5th:

RHP Cooper Hellman relieved Risedorph, and Hellman has yet to give up a run in 4 IP. It's the 9, 1, and 2 hitters up for the Knights.

Hellman gets the leadoff hitter on a GO and it's the top of the order up and he gives up a single with one out.

Another base hit puts runners on 1st and 2nd with one out, and the first four hitters in the batting order have five of the six hits for BU.

Another IU mistake on a passed ball by Ellis moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out.

Another single scored two runs with one run unearned. Hellman then gives up a double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out.

Mercer pulled Hellman who got the leadoff batter, but then gave up four straight hits to include the double.

RHP Evan Whiteaker came in with and ERA of 0.00 in 4.1 IP and he gets a pop up out for the 2nd out with the runners holding at 2nd and 3rd. Another pop out retires the side with BU getting two runs, one unearned, to lead 3-0.

B5th:

While IU elected to go with the bullpen pitchers today, Bellarmine elected to go with their top pitcher and he has pretty much handcuffed IU so far and seen his ERA drop to 1.57 in 22 IP.

Pender faced the bottom of the order for IU and he got the first two batters before walking Serruto to bring up the top of the order in Glasser with two outs. That was Pender's first walk on the year in over 22 IP.

Glasser grounded out to end the inning and IU just can't seem to get any clutch hits so far of the Bellarmine pitcher.

6th Inning:

T6th:

Whiteaker gives up a leadoff single. A ball back to the pitcher moved the runner to 2nd with one out. A K on a WP allowed the hitter to reach 1st with the runner on 2nd being thrown out after getting in a rundown between home and 3rd and tagged out by Serruto. Another WP moved the runner on 1st to 2nd and a flyout retired the side.

B6th:

Pender is still on the mound for the Knights and he is at a 67 PC with the 2 thru 4 hitters up. Jessee leads of with a single and Jessee advanced to 2nd on a balk with no outs.

Pyne K'd looking and Mathison flied out to the warning track advancing Jessee to 3rd with two outs.

Tibbitts walked to put runners on the corners with two outs and Ellis grounded out to end the inning and IU just can't get any clutch hits on scoring threats so far.

7th Inning:

T7th:

Whiteaker back on the mound and he gives up a leadoff single and moved the runner over on a WP. A K, flyout, and another K retired the side with no damage done.

B7th:

Whalen grounded out and Cerny lined out. Serruto then homered to give IU their first run. Glasser singled and then stole 2nd. Jessee lined out to end the inning.

I heard the announcer say Bellarmine has won 24 games over the past 2 seasons? This would not be a good loss.

8th Inning:

T8th:

RHP Connor Foley relieved Whiteaker. A flyout, single, foul out, and a FC retired the side.

B8th:

Bellarmine brought in their top reliever in RHP Matt Craven and he faced the 3 thru 5 hitters for IU. Pyne got a leadoff walk.

They said this was their top reliever, but he gave up another walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs with Tibbitts up.

Tibbitts doubled to score Pyne to make it 3-2 BU, and Ellis up with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

With the infield in, Ellis grounded out with the runners holding at 2nd and 3rd and one out.

Whalen then doubled to score Tibbetts and Mathison to give IU their first lead of the game at 4-3.

Whalen advanced to 3rd on a WP.

Whalen scored on a SF by Cerny to make it 5-3 with Serruto up and two outs and he grounded out to end the inning.

9th Inning:

T9th:

LHP Ryan Kraft came in to close it out and he is coming off of two outstanding outings in relief.

Kraft faced the 2 thru 4 hitters and he got the first two hitters on GOs. A single and an error by Glasser put the runner on 2nd with two outs. Another GO ended the game.

IU finally got over .500 on the season at 7-6. IU went with their bullpen pitchers today while the Knights went with their best starter and he handcuffed IU for much of the game and when IU got scoring threats against him, they couldn't get that clutch hit off of him, and he surrendered the homer to Serruto and that was it. When IU got to the bullpen, IU rallied for the win.

IU's first two batters in the order in Glasser and Jessee went a combined 5 of 8 with Glasser 2 for 4 and Jessee 3 of 4.
Tibbitts was 2 of 3 with a RBI double.
Whalen was 1 for 4, and that was a big hit being a 2 RBI double.
Serruto homered and was 1 for 3.

IU used five pitchers today. They got really good pitching from the bullpen pitchers today with the exception of Hellman who had a really tough brief appearance. IU pitching did not give up a walk today.

Risedorph had a really good 4 IP as the starter, and he gave up 4 hits, and one run which was unearned after an IU error and he had 4 Ks. Risedorph threw 52 pitches for 37 strikes.

Hellman pitched just 0.1 IP and he gave up four hits to include a double and two earned runs before being pulled.

Kraft came in to close it out in the 9th and he gave up a harmless two-out single and that was it.

After committing no errors yesterday, IU committed three errors today.

We had to be in Btown to run an errand today so my wife and I attended the game this afternoon and we stayed until the top of the 5th. Too stinking windy and cold for my better half. LOL. The Bellermine Right Fielder made a big league throw to nail Glasser at third. Too bad we didn't get to see much production from the plate. Their starter pitched a heck of a game. Tickled that we got the come back win.
Go Hoosiers!
