zrno decommits

No, I was calling out that poster for misrepresenting what people said. My point was for the poster to do better.
But you laid out some possibilities. Just playing devils advocate? Again my bad if so. Probably best to just leave it at “none of us know”…to your point.

I guess I just want to defend our new coach…and insert some logic in to it. It would be a lot less strange for an agent of a player to lie, in my opinion, than a new coach to just ghost a relevant prospect when he needs to build a roster.

Or maybe Zyrnos people are lying? Agents would never do that? Never.
In the best case, if you’re DeVries, with all he has on his plate, returning a call from an agent of a decommitted player that you are not interested in would be among your lowest priorities.

That one was very suspicious to begin with. It had pure money hire written all over it. Woodson was trying to generate some kind of positive direction toward next year. Might have been an I-owe-U situation.
Yes just strange that Zrno committed in the first place, the writing was on the wall for Woodson, if his agent didn’t see that he’s not much of an agent.

Well, he only has 4 committed players for next year. This guy has good shooting stats, why not give him a call, nothing to lose.

It's possible. So you would agree that it's weird, right? Haha The exact point that was made. Something is strange, no one knows what.
What’s strange to me is that the kid didn’t want to give Devries the time of day. Kid just decommitted without talking to the new coach. If a kid is committed, usually the incoming coach is going to talk to him. He talked to Sisley. But this kid bolted. Now he wants to frame it as the staff hasn’t contacted him? This kid made the first move. Now, his camp is is trying to rewrite the narrative. If he’s that good, why hasn’t anybody snatched him up?

It would also be interested in hearing the vm or seeing the text. It may have been polite and professional or it could have been about how much $$ is needed for him to recommit. Who knows…

False. People understand that logic, however, what people are questioning is why he doesn't want him. More importantly, how he knows he doesmt want him and he didnt even talk to him. Our roster is not exactly flowing over. Come on, do better.
No, I would think Devries has discovered this little known thing called video, as well as knowing how to use the phone to do something called research. There are lots of reasons he may not want him.
As for our roster not "flowing over" look at how late the majority of portal players sign. It is generally late in the process.
So I repeat, I don't understand why so many do get it!

No, you have it completely backwards. You laid out possibilities. Ha I then mocked them in response. My entire point was we don't know but it's strange. That alone put you into defense mode. Calm down.

I really don't see it as strange at all. If DeVries was interested, he would have contacted him. Otherwise, why contact a player that already said he wasn't interested in playing at IU under DeVries?

If CDD didn’t respond he probably has a reason. Could be due to a prior interaction with Zrno/his agent. Whatever, hard to care about this.

Seemed like a business deal worked out with Woodson and an agent. There wasn't a campus visit that I heard of. I'm not sure a player chasing money is CDD's idea of culture. Zrno knew as much about IU as Ivan Renko did.

You clearly didn't read the article. Also, you never burn bridges because over time, that can add up. A simple conversation costs nothing. Ask Indiana HS coaches about Tom Crean.

No matter the case, again, no one knows what happened or of its even true. It's just weird, period.

He visited and committed when Woody was obviously on the hot seat. It was all very odd.

I think Zrno did not decommit until we hired Devries. In other words, even though Woodson was on his way out and this was public, Zrno stayed committed. Essentially the moment Devries was hired he decommitted. Why would he do that? Maybe give the new coach a few days or a week to get settled and make contact - he did not do that. Seems like kind of a slap in the face. If he only wanted to play for Woodson at IU then he should have decommitted once Woodson was known to be on the out. This kid played it all wrong if he wanted to be recruited. Just give the new coach a week. There was plenty of time to be recruited elsewhere.

Several interesting storylines...

DeVries vs. Dusty
DeVries vs. McCollum
Zrno vs. IU
Myles Rice vs. IU

And when IU falters in any of these matchups, the number of "we could have had him" threads will be insufferable.
Dusty is killing it, he has been nothing but impressive! Knows talent and how to build a team.

He is, for sure. The B10 leveled up in recent years, coaching wise. It needed to. B10 bball was getting stale, and the perennial top coaches, weren't likely going to make their programs truly competitive with the rising SEC and B12 programs, without some new blood pushing them and changing the conference dynamics.
