I said this team had a run in them and would make the NCAA. We’re looking better than we have all season. Finally get to start talking about “what seed will we be?” Good draw and we have the talent to make a second weekend run. IU!

March is so much better when we’re relevant.

Where’s your buttsmooching buddy Willy the Dog? We all knew you’d pop up again if we won a couple. But I’ll agree with one thing…the dance is a million times better if we are in it and win a game or two. Heaven forbid we actually threaten to do what Woodson said he’d do.

This is Washington we played.
I think all of this is getting a bit carried away.

Sounds like you have been drinking some of that Cav’s Corner Cuervo.

If he refunds most of his salary, or at least apologises, then I would be worried if his head is high as he cleans out his office. I would like the team to win but Buckner and Woodson owe an apology for a ridiculous amount of money blown and another four years of program time wasted on nothing. Smash and grab coaching tenure-nothing more. Another check box for the new coach-doesn’t smoke cigars after games.

Remember winning 5 in a row at the end of last season? That was during a historically bad season. Look back at the MW years and there are several times where it seems the wheels are about to totally fall off and the team flips that narrative.

Perhaps he’s elite at getting a dead cat bounce out of his players?

One of the more intriguing things to me is the durability of the retirement. I assume it’s all buttoned up and as contractually tight as can be. But, if it’s the forced retirement/firing that most of us assume, what if isn’t wasn’t set in concrete (legally speaking)?

You also said Woody was on the verge of turning the program around and would be here awhile.

Damn man, now I will have nightmares tonight about that possibility!!

The announcer said that Woodson told him he had averaged 21 wins a season and the announcer's comment was "Evidently that isn't good enough for Indiana.".

No, it isn't, especially when Woodson stated that his temas would compete for BT and NCAA titles!
He hasn't really even sniffed one in four years.

Wait to see if they can beat Oregon. They are playing the best they have all season. Last year Ware finally started playing hard and they went on a run and came up short.

In the Knight days I used to hate when IU played talented underperforming teams because you'd never know when they'd wake up and actually try.

Yeah, for whatever reason, the players don't seem to give up on Woodson. I think they mostly "like him" and want to win for him.

In my view, Woodson's downfall and main reason he was let go was the inability to construct a cohesive team. If McNeely stayed, and he signed both Haralson and Mullins, Woodson would still be our coach next year.

if we could only play washington every game.

Sad we are at a point where IU is hoping to squeeze into the tournament as a last four in and people are excited and bragging about it
Bob Knight was essentially fired over not making deep tournament runs back when making the tournament was a foregone conclusion. Today our chests puff out with pride thinking if we win 1 of our final two, along with a game in the BTT, we have a chance to make it in the tournament if we win a play-in game. Just getting in the NCAA tourney is our new mark of a successful season as Patrick and Tim laugh.

On February 14th you started a thread titled "Stick a fork in 'em" after the home loss to UCLA. So it appears you've predicted it both ways.

Seems we are trending to the right side of the bubble. I looked back and we haven’t been to 3/4 NCAA tournaments since the Cody team.

Current KenPom rating 44.

Final KenPom rating in Millers last season: 50.

The next season we were 48th (the “play in game” season), then 30th, then 91.

We aren’t leapfrogging 30, but that season ended in a real NCAA clunker. It wouldn’t be a total shock to me to see MW’s best NCAA tournament outcome this season. Though, that’s not saying much.

Either way, imagine this;
We make the tournament and make it to the second week. (Crazy, I’ll be called, but there will be teams worse than us that make the sweet 16, lots of mediocrity out there). So, 3/4 tournaments, and his “best” NCAA performance. Let the drama unfold if MW doesn’t want to leave quietly.

I thought he was fired over choking Reed and/or grabbing a student, and insubordination/disrespecting his boss?

What ultimately led to Knight’s firing, backing him into a corner through Brand’s mandated Zero Tolerance Policy, was initiated five years earlier with the growing disillusionment of Bob Knight’s coaching ability after a series of upset defeats early in the NCAA tourneys. Some player defections and recruits not playing to their potential added to fan frustration. The media, who always despised him, detected a weakness and jumped all over him for it, adding to the perception, real or imagined, that Knight had lost his ability to relate to the youth of the day, thus sealing his fate as pressure grew from increasing doubts.

But he "resigned" ... and had been thinking about doing so for a while. You can't un-light a cigar.

Felling leaking the tape to ESPN. Go no further than that. If he had 3 straight sweet 16s in the late 90s it would have been the same outcome with Brand and the media.

You really seem to be pushing this. Why?
