Yarden Garzon in the portal

I think he is that dumb. I somewhat felt sorry for him in the way several treated him, although his comments were a bit odd. Hard to believe this guy's a pastor after reading his foolish comments above.
Don’t feel sorry for him. He proves his ignorance and lack of compassion for the human race on the WC frequently. The self proclaimed “Dream Team” loves him because he spouts the same political putrid nonsense they love, but he should have his pastor stole revoked

As long as coach Moren isn't in the portal we'll be fine.
I guess but I also worry. 6 guys gone! This really makes me worry we have a coach player locker room issue. Certainly there can be other reasons. NIL, wanting to be on a team with a better chance of winning, playing closer to home, etc.
It just seems like a lot of exodus to me.

Only Yardon is surprising or concerning to me.

Probably get flack for saying what I said but it was known she was leaving. The other player is known but I’ve not seen the email only know about it. The dude has a screw loose and won’t be back. That’s all I’ll say about that. I only posted that comment because I didn’t want to see comments about loyalty etc…she could’ve ran to the media but chose not to. Says a lot about her. Hope she has success wherever she lands.
Diagnosed screw loose ( allegedly)
Which I think explains his lack of a motor and lackadaisical way he approached things 🤷🏻‍♂️

With a “Do Not Contact” tag. Welp, looks like the women are going to stink next year. They had a good five year run from 2019-24 but it’s over. I hope Moren isn’t being short changed on NIL.
I think that mass exodus has a number of messages. Based on her season ending comments, I think that she needs to re-invent IU women's basketball a little to compete at the highest level. CTM's drive is a final four or better. But she can't beat USC, UCLA, Maryland, Iowa, etc.. with the past type players & style. We need to get more athletic at every position. I appreciated Ms. Garzon's efforts & really hope this does not ruin her IU experience. Remember that the University is much greater than any one person & some should never experience it but sadly do.

She’s beaten Iowa and Maryland regularly the past 3 years. Beat Iowa this year in IC.

huh? Explain it like I was 10.
I don't know this as fact, but....
  • Fear of God had a connection to vocal anti-semite Kanye West. Not a current connection, I don't think, but in the past few years.
  • Yarden or someone representing Yarden, raised the issue with the department
  • The department abruptly cancels wearing the uniforms (I think the women did wear them once but the men didn't at all)
  • This pissed off one or more MBB players (allegedly) who are a religion that doesn't want anything to do with Jews/Israel. Said player(s) reached out to Yarden with negative messages.
How it was handled, how she was supported, what internal reactions were...all things I have no idea about.

Damn...thanks. Even I can follow those dots.

If true, I am glad the player is gone and sorry she didn't take it to Woody. There was one player that suddenly stopped being used...at all any possibility there?

Why in the world would Indiana University ask any of it's athletes to wear uniforms with some kind of religious statement on them?

There was no message on the uniforms. Only an affiliation with the FoG creator and Kanye. But even that relationship, I believe, ended a few years ago. So PERSONALLY I have a hard time thinking the uniforms should have been cancelled, but I'm not Jewish/Israeli and I don't know what went on behind the scenes.

The women wore those uniforms in the tournament game v. SC. I'm pretty sure they also wore them in the 1st game. Perhaps Garzon objected to that? Perhaps MM objected to her objection?

Edit---Think I'm referring to the wrong unis.....not the black uniforms, but rather the ones for BH month?

Neither. It was a cream uniform with crimson numerals.

I have wondered the same thing, whether religious or not in it's content, it is confusing. I am not hip enought to understand.

Hope most of that isn't true.
How much of items 2-4 do you have evidence for?

If the issue was brought to the attention of the athletic department, the player should have been dismissed!

For me, it’s purely hearsay. But I don’t think connecting the dots about FoG uniforms and Yarden is a stretch. Whether a MBB player was involved has been rumored but I don’t have any 1st or 2nd hand proof.

What happened? Was she shooting better than him? I bet that's it. On a serious note, one of my regrets of the past was not fighting through some situation and quitting too quickly. This is one concern of mine with the transfer rule. It creates a bunch of quitters.

I think it depends on exactly what he said. Was it an ill-considered joke, was it a threat, was it a demeaning insult, etc.

I think the better and more plausible question is did MM have real Adidas NIL money tied to the promotion of FOG and the blowup internally was money related?

So the devil's advocate pov is, XYZ bitching, just cost me a pile of money, F-that? I'm going to express my displeasure in that sequence of events.

Plausible theory.

I haven't seen anything tying MM to adidas/FoG all year...did I miss something?

I disagree. I think it makes rather easy to believe he’s a pastor.

Money is starting to flow freely in the women's game. Schools in the Big12 without strong men's programs like TCU and Oklahoma are throwing up to 900k per players at high end athletes to secure their services. Apparently Haley Van Lith at TCU was banking over a half mil from her transter from LSU. Money hs officially ruined all of college athletics.

HVL has been one of the highest paid WCBB since NIL became a thing, top 5 this year. She does have several deals, but she has done a good job to monetize her social media platforms
