as long as these MM email rumors are still out there and not disproven, I'd back off casting any judgement towards Yarden. If the story is even partially true, it's not a good story.
Not young, just not prejudiced. What does being an Israeli have to do with it?Brilliant post youngster.
claimed that Mbako sent her anti-semitic and/or threatening texts, emails or letters. Should have been a multi-game or season suspension/expulsion right then. What are the allegations?
I don't know beans about Yardon, but I know someone that doesn't have any "since".I never expected Yarden to have a real since of loyalty to IU, she's an Israeli. I suspected she wasn't in love when I saw her deadpan expressions when everyone else was excited. She got what she come after and now she's going to market it.
Exactly. As he stated to me…I don't know beans about Yardon, but I know someone that doesn't have any "since".
Because it's IU's women's team?lol. It’s women basketball… why are you all worked up about this?
Of course it’s opinion. But if you like effort, energy, enthusiasm, actually playing together as a team, I don’t think it’s even close. That’s a matter of opinion. Better relative to their competition level, for sure. More entertaining…nah.
For the most part it is. We have a good number of Jewish students, sororities and frats and two Jewish centers. I imagine, like many other places, this past year made some relationships strained. Is IU a supportive campus for Jewish student? I thought it was but I could be wrong. They took a lot of flak for clearing out the protestors last year (right or wrong, that isn't my point). If MM did was what said he should have been dismissed.
Lol and why can’t you just skip the topic if you AREN’T interested? Maybe you missed the fact that last year more people watched the women’s Final Four than the men’s? A lot of people are interested in both. And with our women’s team being far superior to our men’s the last decade or so, they have gained many followers. If you aren’t one, that’s fine.lol. It’s women basketball… why are you all worked up about this?
I can’t imagine a grown man being this upset about a little girl’s decision about putting a basketball through a hoop.. lolDon't you support all IU teams?
That’s not true. I know a student manager for the team and Yarden was very close to many of the women, but almost all of her friends graduate and are leaving. And then the incident…. I’d heard months ago she was probably leaving.I never expected Yarden to have a real since of loyalty to IU, she's an Israeli. I suspected she wasn't in love when I saw her deadpan expressions when everyone else was excited. She got what she come after and now she's going to market it.
How is it slow? Teams are scoring in the 70’s and even 80’s now.I just personally find women's bball to be really slow and boring for the most part.
Little girl? Who's the grown man here?I can’t imagine a grown man being this upset about a little girl’s decision about putting a basketball through a hoop.. lol
Same way grown men get upset about little boy’s decisions and wet their pants if we don’t get a recruit we want, Ala last week…..I can’t imagine a grown man being this upset about a little girl’s decision about putting a basketball through a hoop.. lol
Op? What is she 19 years old?Little girl? Who's the grown man here?
I don't know how old she is but I do know she's 6'3 and could kick your ass.Op? What is she 19 years old?
Maybe she can fight Krafty.. he needs his ass kickedI don't know how old she is but I do know she's 6'3 and could kick your ass.
Yet you make this post?Yawn. Couldn't care less about women's bball and I've tried.
Oh, jeez. Don’t worry, now it’ll only be a matter of time before one of them slinks over here and clears up your confusion for you and the rest of the forum. Nice work…Going off topic here, but what the heck has happened to Purdue's women's program? Incredible powerhouse in the 90s/early 2000's to 3-15 in the BIG. I know they had to dismiss Versyp, but I thought Geralds would do better.
I think this is called blaming the victim…There were dozens of other schools she could have gone to and I'd have wished her well, as I have many other former Hoosiers. She chose Maryland, so she can F off, as far as I'm concerned.
The folks who bitch about women's bball are the same as the folks who complain about hating the "lazy NBA game". Neither group has watched a game in years. The women's game has progressed a ton and is generally better fundamental ball than the men's game. How is it slow? Teams are scoring in the 70’s and even 80’s now.
What it has to do with it is, she is in a foreign country, and is most likely here for an education paid for by her ability to play basketball, and not to fulfill a candy stripe dream. If you were in Isreal, would you have a strong loyalty to a particular university? In my opinion, you likley wouldn't.Not young, just not prejudiced. What does being an Israeli have to do with it?
Anti-Semitic is self explanatory. The “threatening” part needs some more info. Threatening how?claimed that Mbako sent her anti-semitic and/or threatening texts, emails or letters. Should have been a multi-game or season suspension/expulsion right then.
When you look at our rosters (or most rosters), not many who grew up dreaming of playing for the candy stripes and my guess is we had more than most in Leal, Goode, Galloway and Hatton possibly. We don't need kids who grew up dreaming of playing at IU, we need kids who know how to play the game and relish becoming a Hoosier! What it has to do with it is, she is in a foreign country, and is most likely here for an education paid for by her ability to play basketball, and not to fulfill a candy stripe dream. If you were in Isreal, would you have a strong loyalty to a particular university? In my opinion, you likley wouldn't.
You’re f’n hilariousSomeone that was here one year vs. someone that was here three? No. Not to mention how Rice was treated by fans here vs how Yarden was embraced.
Agreed. The only thing that frustrates me is all the missed layups. I finally figured out there’s a big difference in the height and what that means for women vs men.The folks who bitch about women's bball are the same as the folks who complain about hating the "lazy NBA game". Neither group has watched a game in years. The women's game has progressed a ton and is generally better fundamental ball than the men's game.
Not saying she can't score..But so slow getting down the court on D.I get it. I really wish she would have gone out of conference, but she has some things to consider others don’t. I agree she did receive a lot of support at IU, but I don’t know the details of what all went down with MM. I’m not surprised she went to an east coast school, and Maryland has a strong Jewish population on campus. Sadly, especially now, that’s something she probably took into account. She has been my favorite player and I hate this, but whenI just thinking about it, it makes more
Nobody here knows, or at least nobody has provided specifics.Anti-Semitic is self explanatory. The “threatening” part needs some more info. Threatening how?
“I’m gonna beat your ass unless you stop being Jewish”? What were the threats?
Nope. I actually like watching and cheering for the women. NBA? No f’ing way. Won’t waste my time watching that sh!t.The folks who bitch about women's bball are the same as the folks who complain about hating the "lazy NBA game". Neither group has watched a game in years. The women's game has progressed a ton and is generally better fundamental ball than the men's game.
The University of Maryland is known for having one of the largest Jewish student populations in the country, with 5,800 undergraduate students identifying as Jewish, which is about 19% of the undergraduate population. For the most part it is. We have a good number of Jewish students, sororities and frats and two Jewish centers. I imagine, like many other places, this past year made some relationships strained.
Yep didn’t know exact numbers but know they and MIchigan both have large Jewish populations. The University of Maryland is known for having one of the largest Jewish student populations in the country, with 5,800 undergraduate students identifying as Jewish, which is about 19% of the undergraduate population.
WTH?? This is the first time I’ve heard this one, can someone please explain? Bizarre to say the least.claimed that Mbako sent her anti-semitic and/or threatening texts, emails or letters. Should have been a multi-game or season suspension/expulsion right then.
It was discussed in the other thread about Garzon. Both players are gone now, probably not worth rehashing it.WTH?? This is the first time I’ve heard this one, can someone please explain? Bizarre to say the least.
Thanks for the info-I won’t try.Yawn. Couldn't care less about women's bball and I've tried.
6th highest % of Jewish students among public universities. Is IU a supportive campus for Jewish student? I thought it was but I could be wrong. They took a lot of flak for clearing out the protestors last year (right or wrong, that isn't my point). If MM did was what said he should have been dismissed.
Just repeating what I heard, I didn't receive the communications, just heard about them 12th hand, on here. What does it matter? They're both gone, just adding some context to what was said.Anti-Semitic is self explanatory. The “threatening” part needs some more info. Threatening how?
“I’m gonna beat your ass unless you stop being Jewish”? What were the threats?
