BTW, congrats to you on not making this same decision if you were faced with it.
There were dozens of other schools she could have gone to and I'd have wished her well, as I have many other former Hoosiers. She chose Maryland, so she can F off, as far as I'm concerned.
Sorry she didn't consult you before picking her new school. Makes sense to me she'd go to a conference rival. Already would have some familiarity with the staff and possible teammates. The screw up in this from the cheap seats was in not protecting her and punishing MM if what is alleged is true.

That’s a you problem then. They have been much more entertaining than the men for awhile now.
I get it. I really wish she would have gone out of conference, but she has some things to consider others don’t. I agree she did receive a lot of support at IU, but I don’t know the details of what all went down with MM. I’m not surprised she went to an east coast school, and Maryland has a strong Jewish population on campus. Sadly, especially now, that’s something she probably took into account. She has been my favorite player and I hate this, but when thinking about it, it makes more sense.
IU needs an upgrade athletically so I guess there is a silver lining. If you ask me the move feels lateral at best not sure what she is thinking other than the NIL money at Maryland is better? Makes little to no sense otherwise.
I don't think Yarden or their other transfer pickup, Gracie Merkle, fit Maryland's style of play. Head scratching to me, but we'll see.
Going off topic here, but what the heck has happened to Purdue's women's program? Incredible powerhouse in the 90s/early 2000's to 3-15 in the BIG. I know they had to dismiss Versyp, but I thought Geralds would do better.

Is IU a supportive campus for Jewish student? I thought it was but I could be wrong. They took a lot of flak for clearing out the protestors last year (right or wrong, that isn't my point). If MM did was what said he should have been dismissed.

Being foreign she cannot collect NOL from the collectives. It has to originate in Israel for her. Edey complained about this last year, his inability to collect NIL.

I'm not sure how it works with the foreign players now....but Bozich is saying he heard between $350K-$400K for Yarden. Not bad, wonder if we could compete with that on the women's side?

I never expected Yarden to have a real since of loyalty to IU, she's an Israeli. I suspected she wasn't in love when I saw her deadpan expressions when everyone else was excited. She got what she come after and now she's going to market it.
I just personally find women's bball to be really slow and boring for the most part.

I have no criticism of her leaving. I think Maryland has a much better chance of advancing next year than we do. With NIL and the Transfer portal, fewer people are going to have the loyalty to the school that those of us who watched a player come in as a freshman, develop, contribute down the road and then graduate do.
If she left for academic reasons, great if she left because Maryland will be a better team great, or if she left for more money, great. I completely understand all of that. I will be disappointed. If she left because of how she was treated at Indiana, for example the antisemitism that is rumored, or any team locker room issues that could explain the mass exodus, I think that is our problem and not hers

It's more a question of whether what she is doing to earn the money meets the defintion of "work" while she is in the USA on a student visa. Passive income is OK (maybe up to some limit?) but work income is very restricted or not allowed.
Maybe a sophisticated financial advisor could navigate some loopholes but I'd think people like her and Edey would have had those resources if it were possible.

I really don't think there's any locker room issues. I think Moren's simply going for a talent upgrade. But im sure she wanted to keep Garzon . Why she left. No clue.

Most schools have not said how they are going to spend based on the House Settlement, if it is approved. Georgia did, you can see it below. They are allotting 900,000 to women's basketball. That probably sounds what most good programs will do. Simply foot, football is going to eat first, then men's basketball. If Garzon is getting anything close to $800,000 from that, they aren't paying anyone else or they are dropping football.
Or if this is still based on the collectives, they've changed the laws. Congress considered it last summer, but I didn't think it passed.
