This past season, our WRs were so much better in the running game than many would likely give credit. Obviously, when a RB goes for 2000+ yards, it is a team effort. But I saw something from our WRs that I don't really recall ever standing out when it comes to running game play. Our WRs would continue to run routes to keep DBs and sometimes safeties engaged in pass defense mode even after Coleman had made it into the second level. Stoner was very good at this. Instead of instantly going into run block mode, they would run their routes and keep the DBs heads turned away from the play sucking them downfield to free up space for the running game. I am assuming this was coached and I hope it continues because it was very effective.
