I like the idea if he would be willing to do it. The $$ wouldn't be enticing but maybe he would do it for IU and to work with a great friend? I doubt it but I'd like it if he would.

That seems to be what they said when Woody was first hired.
Then the Matta hire smoothed things over. Now that we have an entire year of evidence of Woodson not listening to Matta or Fife, it’s back to being a crappy hire.

Adding Wittman would be absolutely laughable.

I am not sure what Matta does on a daily basis. I have read that Wittman, who is currently a consultant, was a big help to Woody at the end of the year.

Could you imagine wittman recruiting. Well back in 1979 kids your grandfather might have seen me play.

Yes. Welcome to modern college basketball. We don’t need an old guy who adds nothing to recruiting.
Well, I guess I am assuming that Wittman's basketball IQ is better than that. I think 17 year old kids would take note of a former NBA player and coach meeting with him and his parents.

Why would he listen to Fife? I think he has a handle on things. Boy are you butt hurt over this.

Woody seems to have handled recruiting okay...same deal. I have no idea of Wittman would even consider it but I think he'd be a huge asset to IU.

The idea that the only reason you can recruit is because of who you were as a player? Hell I never heard of the other current assistants. RMK seemed to do pretty well for at least 20 yrs and as I recall he got some bench minutes when he played. Some of these guys live in a video game world it seems

What a bunch of numb-nuts'! Woody made great strides with the defense. The offense could not hit wide open shots or free throws. As if that was a coaching problem.

Thank God Xavier learned how to play the point. Or was that just serendipitous?

Uh, well actually it kind of is a coaching problem at some point.

Lets look at this potential coaching disaster. Both played entire college career for RMK. Both were all- Americans. Both were first round draft picks. Both had long distinguished NBA careers. Both were NBA head coaches for years.

The HORROR!!!

Why because he played at Iu he was a crappy nba coach and he is old. I guess we could hire kitchell too and get the old gang back together.

No, he would be shitty because he has no recruiting experience, and he is a proven shitty coach in the NBA.
He does not need to recruit. Fife couldn't recruit a cheerleader. Horrible at MSU but we as IU fans excused it b/c he's an IU guy. And RW may be a shitty NBA head coach (he wasn't, see Wizards) but must must be a pretty damn good assistant as he was in the league for a while.

I doubt RW becomes a coach nor Smart or Lewis (as will be speculated in time), but he would not be a bad choice.

Fife got lots of big time recruits at MSU. You clearly don’t know much about his time there.

RW would be a shitty hire. Smart would be a shitty hire. Lewis would be a fantastic hire, but he would never come to work under Woodson.
