You should know quite a bit about acting like a fool.
Really? Enlighten us ....please.
You should know quite a bit about acting like a fool.
You obviously watched a different game. When the guy is on the ground and you are standing over top of him it's not trying to get your arm free.
DD pulled his trapped arm free and then gave the idiot a stare from above, the guy woofed at IU all game.
Look, I'm a realist, if this guy played for IU I would hate him, and you guys would LOVE him. He's that kind of guy. But I will say this, IU could use somebody who shows the same life and enthusiasm for the game and competition. As it is, he's a sophomore bench player and he has made big impacts with hustle and effort in a lot of our games.
I mostly agree, but Haarms is over the top with his display, mostly after the game. Thumping his chest, dropping F bombs, yelling at the crowd... all, as you say, from a bench player.
But yes, YES, we need an infusion of heart, emotion and caring, no doubt.
Haarms didn't get the T (IMO) for what happened on that play as much as the culmination of several things he had done up to that point. He was involved not only in the two incidents but got in Davis and Romeo's face a couple of times taunting, or at least it appeared that way.
I don't like it when the students chant FU at all and I know most Purdue grads don't like it when their students do it. I had no problem with the students getting on his case, because he had been an ass all night, but stop with the FU stuff.
If I listened to that chant all game long, and then tipped in the game winner I might still be at assembly hall pounding my chest, lol.
Was at the game last night for the first time at assembly. Overall really enjoyed the experience and the IU people were very nice and enjoyable to talk to.
To your point above about Purdue fans not liking when their students do stuff. I've gone to a lot of game at Mackey, was there when Will sheehey flexed and taunted the Paint Crew and have never heard the Purdue student section chant F*** you to a player in unison. Obviously college students will yell things and that happens all the time but an organized chant is different.
Oh they did in that game and also when My kid was a student there I went to a game with them vs MIch St.and they were on a player, the name escapes me that the fans felt stood them up for some shady stuff. They chanted FU to him.
Look, my concern is IU. THat is the third time I have heard that there...KY, Grayson Allen and now Haarms and I don't like it at all.

Coursense, I think we are ignoring the most offensive thing in basketball today:
The ribbon boards under the scorers table (Purdue has one too). Watching the highlights of the tip in play at the end and all you can see is flashing lights talking about jackpots playing the Hoosier Lottery. Those boards should be static during game play. :/
I think it's more epidemic than school specific. We could have a "classless example" contest for sure and both think we won.
Too much attention is given to a few jackasses on message boards that people want to paint the entire fan base with the same brush. The one thing these people truly want is to be responded to with hate.
1,000+ days since IU beat Purdue banner: Good fun trolling
Making fun of Hep's cancer: Miserable human being
(as examples)

Peegs disagrees with you:
"What happened yesterday with the IU students was pretty embarrassing for Indiana University and something I have not encountered when traveling to other Big Ten university basketball games."

I could see that being the case. It's possible he said something but it seemed like the refs were just tired of his act.
Three times.
You must be in a tizzy today gleefully spreading unfounded rumors about 20 year old kids you have never met. Player's parents still calling you out for it?
Do you mean the rumors that were posted on this board? Plus, as the linked tread is clear, I never mentioned a name. In order to "defame" someone, you have to use a name. That did not happen. Another person mentioned a name, not me. You can simply read and see.
You just like to make things up. This is another example.
I guess Peegs doesn't go to the IU-Purdue games because according to you he is flat-out wrong. Of course, given the rivalry, I think almost all IU fans would find him not attending almost unbelievable.
I posted information that was published here and which was discussed on the radio. I did not make up a false story and wrote that I could not verify the veracity of the described confrontation.
Unlike you, I did not make up multiple falsehoods.
UE had the worst officiating of the year. After McCarty served a suspension for criticizing officials, a member of that crew worked their game on the road. The calls against UE became very outrageous in a game UE was already down big in to a point the media was commenting on it. Eventually they gave McCarty a technical foul and then a second one to remove him from the game. A reporter at the game said the calls were obviously not going to affect the game, but were so bad that the only excuse was to get McCarty to complain so they had an excuse to T him up, twice. The officiating improved after he was gone.why even play with these blind Zebras?
Sit a guy for being passionate and emotionally invested in the game? Seems like something Archie would do. But I get that Haarms can be easy to dislike if he's not on your team.He was an Embarassment to himself and his team. I would hope Archie would sit a kid for the game if he pulled that crap over and over.

He is 7'3". It is crazy to watch him bunny hop and rebound over forwards. He is not normally a dominant rebounder, just really really tall and is in the right place sometimes. I agree it was not over the back the last play.

Meh. I like his hustle but what an idiot. Haarms is as embarrassing as the S&C coach Crean had. Does he ever celebrate anything that his teammates do or does he just act like a freak when he makes the 2 or 3 plays a game he comes up with.
At least a guy like Cardinal i could respect because he just went about his business. While IU could some more hustle on their team you can keep the freak show.
I read this a lot by IU fans and oddly ONLY IU fans about Purdue. I've re-watched several games to try and see what they are seeing. I have yet to see this grab, hold and pushing. At least nothing that the other team wasn't doing too.I wouldnt go that far. Purdue was able to hold, grab and push a lot most the game especially in the first half. We got called on some ticky tack fouls on the other end. There were some good calls for us that evened it out but I wouldnt say we had a big advantage. Thought the charge on Romeo was bogus but still got to find a way to finish this
Haarms and the same IU guy were tangled up multiple times. Haarms getting a tech when he fought for the ball and then walked away was absolutely horrible. Should have been nothing on either guy, but the IU player was walking towards Haarms staring him down. If anything it should have been on him. Again, though, should have been nothing.Haarms didn't get the T (IMO) for what happened on that play as much as the culmination of several things he had done up to that point. After his arm was free he stood over Haarms. That's why Eastern pushed him, which was dumb.It definitely was NOT fu!
And Davis didn’t “stand” over hasrms, he was trying to get his arm free.
Dawson probablyOh they did in that game and also when My kid was a student there I went to a game with them vs MIch St.and they were on a player, the name escapes me that the fans felt stood them up for some shady stuff. They chanted FU to him.

I've seen Haarms be plenty boisterous, but can't say I've ever whitnessed him "woofing" at the opponent or crowd. No, acting like a punk and woofing at your opponent. He would have been ejected after about five episodes of that lame ass act.
Probably because Williams is a better post defender. It was frustrating to watch IU, a horrid 3pt shooting team, immediately fire up two 3pointers when PU’s 7’3” guy goes out of the game with 4 fouls. And one of those two 3s was by Morgan...the guy who should’ve been getting the ball inside. Haarms was probably on the bench for 5-6 minutes before we took a shot within 5 ft of the rim...and it wasn’t by a guy named Morgan.
Again, Davis or whoever it was he was tangled up with appeared to be the instigator in both incidents. Not only that, he stood over Haarms after he was on the floor and was staring Haarms down walking towards him after the tie up. IMO he was the aggressor and it was obvious as my IU buddies sitting next to me at the game felt the same way. Yet Haarms got T'd up for basically walking away. Never saw him get in anyone's face. Not once.Reread my post, it explains your concern.

yeah its called wondering what the hell that moron on the ground is trying to do, since he was the one who jurked his arms trying to pull the ball out and fell on his ass.You obviously watched a different game. When the guy is on the ground and you are standing over top of him it's not trying to get your arm free.
really then your Hoosier fans must have been drunk because Haarms was trying to juek the ball lose even after the whistle blew and on the second one it looked like he got mad and slammed the ball down but was not the case. When you mean mug someone like Haarms was doing your going to get calls against you.Again, Davis or whoever it was he was tangled up with appeared to be the instigator in both incidents. The chant was definitely FU. No mistaking it. And it did sound awful.
I thought the first incident was all on Davis. After he threw Haarms down then stood over him I fully expected he would be tossed.
As sad as it is to say between the chants, the awful product, the blowouts by bad teams, the lack of effort all combined it has become an embarrassment to be an IU fan.
