Woodson retiring today rumor

I've been saying (on other outlets) since the begining of the season that this was how it would go down. He'd retire and be allowed to finish out the season. We'll see if that comes to pass.

just get Dackich to finish the season
Dan has two jobs right now and both are going great. He is the radio host of his own show on 1430a.m. around Indy. He also has a show on Outkick which is very popular. He was really good today because he interviewed Jerome Bettis very well. Outkick sent him to the Super Bowl so he is doing his outkick show from there.

Some guy named Dan on the Twitter (I mean X) posted this yesterday. It's X so take it with a grain of salt. But Dan's X profile does say he's a '76 IU grad so....

If he were popular he wouldn’t be on AM radio. His podcast does low to modest at best numbers.

Imagine being an IU basketball fan and hoping something good is going to happen, but not only that, thinking it’s going to happen immediately.

I don't think this roster is as good or as talented as many on here do, but they do have some potential.
I didn’t think the Purdue roster was as good or talented this year either, but Painter has them poised to win another B1G title. The guy can take 3 star talent and beat most 4-5 star talent. Coaching matters and a great coach could make our seemingly “laking in talent” roster into conference contenders.

Waiting GIF

Seems like we might be almost exactly a year removed from rumors like this being widely accepted as being true, or inevitably true.

I'll wait until I see an announcement.
I'm waiting for the sister announcement that Brad Stevens will be the next coach at IU.

While I bagged on Purdue fans about losing Edey, and them falling off...I "knew" Purdue would still be very good. My point was nearly always that they're no longer "Final Four" good. But they did beat Alabama earlier in the year. I think when you have a point guard as good as Smith is, in today's college game, you've got an enormous advantage. And Painter is REALLY good at maximizing the talent he does have, and finding ways to use his best players most effectively.

But like most of his teams, they're still very vulnerable against teams with athletic, physical, guards. And they no longer have Mount Canada behind them protecting them. They may win a down B10 this year, but they won't sniff a Final Four.

Cheaney is risky... I don't think this roster is as good or as talented as many on here do, but they do have some potential. The problem...maybe a good thing...we only have 8 games left, and what they need to be successful, at this point, likely would take multiple weeks to "fix" or implement. By then, seasons over.

So...maybe Cheaney would be the guy that would give the program the most "juice". But man, if he'd Diebler the end of the season, and do something crazy like win 6 or 7 games out of the 8 remaining, and/or win the B10 tournament... I hope, hope, hope...that Dolson has the stones to not cave under the immense pressure there would be to hire him permanently.
Dream on.

Keep in mind this will play out like any normal sports story in the history of the sports world. Coach retires or is fired at seasons end.

To think IU is special enough to where the coach steps down with 8 games to go in the season is retarded.
