This is why Woodson is moving on. Hopefully we can finally hire someone that takes us out of the middle of the pack and into the top tier perennially. Sadly, these results were better than the previous 4 years under Miller. Next season will mark 10 years since we last won a B1G regular season title.

Really insightful

That’s very interesting. If you leave out the new teams this year, the only Big Ten teams he had a loosing record against were Wisconsin and the perennial bottom half of the conference (Northwestern, Nebraska, Rutgers, Iowa and Penn State.). He couldn’t beat the bad teams except Minnesota. I wonder why? Were we just a talented uncoached group who couldn’t get motivated to play the “bad” teams? Was Woody’s game-plan against them the problem? The world may never know. I really think that some smart person from the IU business school should do a study of the IU basketball program as an example of how NOT to run an organization.

I know. The terrible performance against perennial bottom dwellers jumped out to me as well. 0-5 vs NW is a travesty. But winning records vs MSU, Michigan, and OSU stand out. Woody’s tenure was a low point for Michigan and OSU. But the bottom
line is he just isn’t a good coach. He is / was avg at best. If I did a similar analysis vs ranked teams outside the conference, it would show an even more telling story of very poor performance. I share this simply to show a fact based performance metric. He said he wanted to win B1G champs. He never came close to it. Said he wanted to hang banners. Never made it past round of 32. Moving on and hopefully we get a winner for our next coach!

Kind of interesting that his B1G regular season record is .500, his BTT record is .500, and his NCAAT record is .500.

It appears Woodson dominates against the 'M' schools.

McNeese, Memphis, Missouri, Maryland...
that's a final four after that.

The 4 consecutive January skids were telling. The well coached teams start to separate from the middle of the pack and baring injuries look noticeably better than the start of the year. Our big win this year was Tennessee when there had been minimal coaching done up to that point. That reinforces the idea that we had plenty of talent. After a month of coaching, other talented teams looked like they were playing a different sport than us.
