Embarrassing and an indictment on our hiring and retention process. We have become a laughingstock in the college basketball community nationwide.
No, he's just lazy and thinks the IU brand will sell itself. Yeah, how'd that work for Booker,Bidunga and other players who were almost a given to IU in years past. Kids see through him!Woody forgot he had to recruit.
Indiana high school coaches aren’t on his side. That’s for sure..No, he's just lazy and thinks the IU brand will sell itself. Yeah, how'd that work for Booker,Bidunga and other players who were almost a given to IU in years past. Kids see through him!
The true high school coaches are.Indiana high school coaches aren’t on his side. That’s for sure..
There hasn't been a time since the 80's where an Indiana hs player was a 'given' to come to IU. And in some cases, those that did, didn't last and went elsewhere. No, he's just lazy and thinks the IU brand will sell itself. Yeah, how'd that work for Booker,Bidunga and other players who were almost a given to IU in years past. Kids see through him!
He doesn't really need the HS coaches...he needs the leaders at Indiana Elite, Indy Heat, La Lu (not a real HS), etc... more than he needs HS coaches. But he should be trying with the HS coaches too...Indiana high school coaches aren’t on his side. That’s for sure..
Crean thought the IU brand sells itself, too, with his now infamous proclamation “It’s Indiana…It’s INDIANA!”.No, he's just lazy and thinks the IU brand will sell itself. Yeah, how'd that work for Booker,Bidunga and other players who were almost a given to IU in years past. Kids see through him!
Agree to an extent…those high school coaches are still big influencers in a kids life and word on the street is PU is kicking IU but in building these relationshipsHe doesn't really need the HS coaches...he needs the leaders at Indiana Elite, Indy Heat, La Lu (not a real HS), etc... more than he needs HS coaches. But he should be trying with the HS coaches too...
Someone that "gets it", would make more efforts to establish relationships with the top coaches in the state. Fishers coach, LN's coach, BD's coach, etc... should all have access to the program. It really isn't hard...its why you have as big of a staff as you have. Utilize all of them, invite those coaches like that down, have coaching clinics, invite their teams down for practices...etc... All Woody would have to do is show up for the planned events, establish some contacts, and stay involved via texting and an occasional call or two.
The results in recruiting, and even the results on the court, sure paint a picture of a guy that isn't logging the time to give his program the best chance at success. And again, that's why you have a deep staff. Utilize them.
