I was surprised. I've always hated their style, but they are so good this year, it's impossible not to enjoy it. The movement, vision and passing is out of this world.

I don't get all the interest in "aesthetically pleasing" basketball. I

think if you're talking about that, your teams probably not winning enough. If my team is winning, I'm enjoying it and that's good ball. Winning is aesthetically pleasing to me, and I think the best coaches adjust their approach to their roster. Crean's done a good job with what he has this year (but he's responsible for the roster imbalance), but alot of our ball hasn't been very pretty, despite if we're running, making 3s or Troy's getting a dunk. I've enjoyed watching UVA as much as anyone this year, and I think a lot of folks don't enjoy that, but damn, they get after it. I agree about WI, but I've always liked how they play, and no surprise, generally they win.

Is there anyone who would rather sacrifice a few wins for "pretty basketball"?

They're even more enjoyable since they're one of a very few teams who seem to be capable of knocking off the Wildcats. Hope it doesn't come to this, but if Wisky faces off against an undefeated Wildcats team, I'll be a BIG Bo Ryan fan.

Everyone likes to win, but there are different ways to win.

Some like the up and down of UNLV teams of the past, or the slower and methodical, defense focused UVA teams, or the pressing Pitino teams, or the motion offense etc. Each of these are capable of winning. I liked watching the IU motion. Personal preference.

I like watching the Spurs win more than I do watching OKC win.

I agree, but the seminal point is winning. I'd much rather win ugly

than lose beautifully. What I find most ugly in bball, besides losing is dumb playing, and giving our opponent the chance to win or stay in the game, which we do alot of. UVA on the other hand, chokes the win out of the other team, keeps pressure on and minimizes mistakes, making up for the ones they make with hustle. That's beautiful bball to me. BTW, I don't like watching the NBA much, but the Spurs are a joy to watch.

Bennett is the closest thing going to RMK, with Gregg Marshall a close second. I don't think Marshall's teams could have the records Bennetts do in the ACC, and he's doing it, imo, with very little talent. I don't follow recruiting as closely as some on here, and I don't care enough to look it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has no top 100 recruits on the UVA roster. I know it's got to be paltry compared to UNC and Duke (and to our 2013 team for the guy calling him out for losing last year).

I just found this paragraph from the write up of last nights game. How does someone not appreciate this effort and find it "boring" is beyond me: "On one possession, the Cavaliers were particularly smothering. The 35-second clock wound down, the crowd rose and offered deafening encouragement as Louisville looked for a shot. When Wayne Blackshear finally saw an opening, drove and put up a shot, Isaiah Wilkins skied and slapped it away to near delirium."

Just the description of that kind of defensive intensity got my blood pumping. That's beautiful!

And to that point I think there are degrees of winning

I want final 4s and titles. Much easier to get there will a disciplined system than not. Obviously talent plays a huge role.

But UVA's focus in defense will always keep them in the game.

I need to watch more Wichita State games. I know very little about Marshall's style of play. Crean and IU has led me to watch and follow basketball a lot less than I used to.
