saw Will Wade’s press conference for NC State. He said NC State would be at the top of the ACC and make the NCAA tournament next season. He said it doesn’t take long to turn around a program anymore. I actually thought it was impressive and interesting to see if he delivers.

They may have more wins, but we have our moral high ground to console us.

I watched the whole press conference and for a reason I couldn't put my finger on, there was something about that guy I didn't like. I did not know until it was brought up, he never played basketball. They did not say what level that was, high school or college. He told MN McNeese St players when he took that job, they would have a chance to follow him to a P5/P4 job later so it will be interesting which players and how many he brings with him.

maybe because he's a liar, cheater and a con man? Doesn't mean he's still not going to be a good coach and win. MN players: McNeese? I'm thinking why was he talking to any Golden Gophers?

It's good that we do. With college basketball being a mercenary sport now, what else is there to hang our hat on to link each new team together from year to year, except the quality of the university? Quality of the staff? Quality and support of the fans?

Which makes Michigan a premium job. Makes Indiana a premium job.

Any low level school that has a billionaire booster can compete now. Especially if they don't care about any qualities as people or developing the kids as people, but only wins.

Sure, we'd better win. That's paramount. But it's ridiculous to say we won't win big without scrabbling around in the dirt. Win and win with character is way better for long term success than 'just win baby'.

I meant McNeese State not Minnesota. I'll correct that. Need more coffee. You are right though liar, cheater and con man. Maybe what I couldn't put my finger on was the tone of his press conference ... he was trying to sell himself to those sitting next to him and the fans that he really wasn't a cheater, a liar and con man.

Did you ever think you’d be filled with envy over coaching hires made by Iowa and NC State? Also, we got the added pleasure of watching Chris Beard coach his team to the second weekend all while we’re still over here suckin’ the hind teat. ‘Tanks for nuttin’, Scott. Goddamn it…
Nope, and I'm not now. Dolson got to talk with both DeVries and McCollum and chose DeVries. The Field of 68 guys think he's a better fit at IU and are all complimentary, as is former player Doug McDermott and the 3 WVU podcasters, one of whom was the play by play guy who said he worked with DD daily and that we got a great one.

McCollum might be great, but understand the hesitancy with so little experience. Wade? Don't get it. Been a HC 11 years and his greatest accomplishment is 1 S16? I think he'll have some decent highs and ultimately undo himself in some way. Why not give the guy a season or 2, or at least a game or 2 before whining?

I removed my laughing icon. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I thought this seemed a bit extreme.
But, easy for me to say, because I like our hire. Feel we got a real pro. I badly wanted McCollum. But I really like DeVries. He will absolutely get it done.

I don’t see a cause for envy. I think IU is fortunate to have had an up-and-comer with an exceptional resume be available to them when the need arose.

Other schools also hired coaches with obvious potential. Good for them.

IU hired their guy. I’m good with it.

Fair enough. I thought you were just laughing at my brilliant Caddyshack reference…
