They actually have $5B worth of grants committed to them right now. Not sure why Trump is targeting these $400M.
They are a research institution. Of course they are going to have a lot of money flowing through.
It's all built into the Swampocratic Oath.

Kind of makes you realize just how much our national research industry (for lack of a better term) depends on federal dollars, if a school like Columbia only has a $15B endowment, but has $5B of committed federal grants. Take away the fed money, and these schools can't do anything.
Columbia U could be burned to the ground and Harlem would be a much better place

I would have guessed $100B at least to be honest.
Edit: Man, I'm way off. Even Yale only has $41B, and Harvard $53B. All this money, nothing but a drop in the bucket compared to what they need from the feds to do their research.

Hell, churches are being converted to brewpubs all over the place. Small churches are shutting down all over the place. Mega churches will rule along with the few Catholic Churches that can survive.
