They've been trying. Lots of threads include updates about all the theft DOGE has uncovered. It's just not going anywhere, because it's always easily debunked and DOGE so far as offered up zero proof to back up any of their claims.

I agree - that type of blatant government theft should be investigated and abolished.

At this point they've declared so many things that have proven false that their credibility is just about completely gone. If they find anything actually real, few will believe them. Like dbm's Twitter Twit Tweets, I assume everything DOGE reports to be false until proven true.
100% correct but that's always been the case. This board is likely representative of a place like Seattle not anything even close to flyover country or average middle of the road Americans.

The only two examples on that list actually uncovered by DOGE were bullshit.
The EPA mismanagement and DOD overspending might turn out to be serious problems, but DOGE didn't uncover them (it's telling that in a top five list, Fox was forced to stretch outside the parameters for two of the entries).
The USAID thing isn't waste or fraud. It's just a disagreement about the value of certain spending. Not that USAID might not have suffered from waste and/or fraud. But those aren't examples of it.

That, at the end of the day, is going to be one of the main questions in the litigation. Everything else will just be a "do over" situation. But maybe Trump will tire of this and move on to something else.

It's a self-check. Like Aloha, I just assume anything from DOGE is a lie, but confirming my suspicions once in a while with leg work keeps me honest.
I'll wait to comment on the theft that DOGE uncovers until they refer someone to the DOJ for prosecution.
I have no idea what the president's authority is on this, but I know the spending doesn't magically become "theft" just because he doesn't like it.
If those are the top five things, I'm perplexed at why Musk thinks or says that DOGE can eliminate up to a trillion $ in waste. It will become a value quagmire. Waste is what’s germane. But what’s waste? A $200 $3 hammer. Something that doesn’t provide value in return? This thread is about theft. We were being generous to OP by including waste in the discussion.
Musk thinks these NGO set ups that receive a lot of the money then use the money to funnel back into the American political system. That would be worth knowing, if true. He also said he thinks there is a lot of fraud going on with people using fake ss#s he thinks can be weeded out.
The thread was started by a satire account. I think it's probably appropriate to move onto the issues, and not spend time litigating his/her/its word choice.
