why do I feel better about the defense after yesterday?

My heart say we played well defensively, But my eyes saw OSU gain over 500yds. Elliott had the second most rushing yards in OSU history(274). They averaged 8yds/rush and 8yds/pass. They did have 3TOs but they were,iirc, 120th out of 128 in that category.

So, Why do I feel better about the defense after yesterday's game?
