The one time I remember both of them getting into a game, Mendoza went in before Cherry.
Hopefully they both stick around. I wonder if Cherry may feel out numbered
This past season Mendosa was ahead of Cherry, this off-season and Spring Ball can change things.
If they don’t impress the staff I imagine we will hit the spring portal.
Whoever wins it in camp... I'd like to know too. Cig has mentioned both guys. One time it sounded like Mendoza ahead another time Cherry. I got the feeling they feel good about Cherry but I cannot remember what comment it was.
At signing day it was 'two young QBs we feel good about' for not signing one. But then they later added another in the flip from Ball State, Jacob Bell. His highlights look really good to me. Glad they grabbed him. In a year or two he may replace one of those guys. Gotta keep it stocked.

Yes. Cherry already had some game snaps from a prior game. Mendoza got his first that game.
Cherry has the practice reps edge, having enrolled early in Jan 2024.

Cherry got knocked in the spring by Coach Cig on lacking arm strength. Never heard a coach call out someone for that. Although he laughed. But Cig said could improve a lot just getting older and stronger.
Cherry didn't have a super strong arm in HS, but was very accurate. He's a worker, so I'm guessing his time in the weight room will help him significantly.
