playing at 9.30 in Dayton Ohio on Tuesday night, and if win have to play in Portland Oregon on Thursday, that is a tough ass trip. The committee shouldn't be sending teams west after playing in Dayton
Good points, still think it's a tough ask, you're talking about getting in to Portland at around 7am Wednesday and then playing the next day , and for Wyoming it will be crazy difficultDon't love the travel but don't really hate the draw. IU is playing its best basketball of the year and don't mind playing early to keep the momentum going. Thought we might have been spent playing third game in three days against a blistering hot Iowa team but we were the better team and aggressor for all but the last 3-4 minutes of the game.
Basically will be playing a home game a couple hours from campus while Wyoming has to come from cross country in a hurry. In the event we do win, we'll get a St. Mary's team who last played on March 8th. Possibly some rust there for the Gaels.
The kids will handle it better than the coaches I suspect.Good points, still think it's a tough ask, you're talking about getting in to Portland at around 7am Wednesday and then playing the next day , and for Wyoming it will be crazy difficult
At very minimum, the bracket should be set up so those teams don't play until Friday. I am not too worried about 20 year old kids playing that often, but jet lag/crossing time zones is a different matter, plus Galloway/Geronimo with injuries might be affected.playing at 9.30 in Dayton Ohio on Tuesday night, and if win have to play in Portland Oregon on Thursday, that is a tough ass trip. This certainly limits the treatments they can get. I suspect they hold JG out until Thursday. TG needs to play to get his wind back 100% but I would limit his minutes in Dayton to 12-15. All this said without first hand knowledge of the situations. At very minimum, the bracket should be set up so those teams don't play until Friday. agree, if anything the ncaa should have scheduled the teams going west 1st, a couple of hours extra could make a differenceIt’s an advantage having a coach from the NBA who is used to travel, back to back games, time changes, late night/early morning flights, etc.
huge advantage for us versus the Cowboys (?) being able to zip up the highway to Dayton, not to mention it will be like a home game for us, and there won’t be any fans from Wyoming.
as a fifty-something yr old who travels extensively....I 100% concur. The kids will handle it better than the coaches I suspect.
Wyoming knows they're basically heading into an IU home game tomorrow nightagree, if anything the ncaa should have scheduled the teams going west 1st, a couple of hours extra could make a difference
Wynn, Caesars and Cosmo are best books IMHOas a fifty-something yr old who travels extensively....I 100% concur.
Kids bounce back quickly.
Speaking of travel...I'm soooo hoping we can make it to the S16...I'll be at a trade show in Vegas next week. Would be awesome to watch IU and other S16 games out in one of the big nice sports books.
Good, they should be scared. Time to show these punk ass leagues who’s the boss.Wyoming knows they're basically heading into an IU home game tomorrow night
Pretty sure the NCAA doesn’t give a rip about these guys falling behind in physics or Latin. This schedule would turn regular "A" students into "C" students.
Miss classes last Thursday and Friday. Travel day today. Play on Tuesday. Fly on Wednesday. Play on west coast on Thursday. On Friday in a hotel and already missed a week of school....

Wouldn't it really be funny if IU got on a roll and PU lost early? lolGood, they should be scared. Time to show these punk ass leagues who’s the boss.
I hope the B1G dominates this tournament except for Purdue
Nope, it's spring break week for IU. IU always schedules their spring break the week the NCAA tourney begins. This schedule would turn regular "A" students into "C" students.

Exactly. Which is why the NCAA was laughed out of court trying to defend the integrity of the term "student-athlete" in the nil proceedings.Pretty sure the NCAA doesn’t give a rip about these guys falling behind in physics or Latin.
Agreed, then, if you get past St. Mary's, you get UCLA and potentially Baylor without Cryer and Tchatchoua. That is a great draw for a potential deep run. It would be nice to have a couple of extra days rest and easier travel plans, but the great draw makes it worth it.not great for travel, but I would rather be slotted vs. St. Mary's in the second round as a 5 seed as opposed to any of the other 5 or 6 seeds, with the possible exception of Colorado St.
#5 Midwest: Iowa (of course we couldn't be slotted to play them)
#6 Midwest: LSU
#5 West: UConn
#6 West: Alabama
#5 South: Houston
#6 South: Colorado St.
#6 East: Texas
#5 East: St. Mary's
Couldn't agree more. Should have been a no brainer to slot Tuesday/Wednesday winners to Friday, especially with time zone travel. For those who are happy we have a near home court advantage against Wyoming, we better be able to beat them anywhere, including their gym, or we're a quick out. Do like the draw, looking ahead, with Baylor as the number one in that bracket. At very minimum, the bracket should be set up so those teams don't play until Friday. The other suggestion I heard from Assembly Call that would make sense, is that if you're playing in Dayton, to at least put them in an East Coast or midwest region so they have less travel, either or even both would make sense. At very minimum, the bracket should be set up so those teams don't play until Friday. Actually easier than going west to east. Trick to know is ensuring that one watches/is awake during the sunset - aids in maintaining/adjusting the circadian rhythm. Actually very helpful.when you go west it takes a while to adjust 20 years old or not
Wynn and Caesars, for sure....I feel like such an old shit in Cosmo...place is crawling with 20-some yr old Cali pinheads. used to love the book at the Mirage. Vegas sheds skin every decade.Wynn, Caesars and Cosmo are best books IMHO

Two words: sports managementPretty sure the NCAA doesn’t give a rip about these guys falling behind in physics or Latin.
UCLA will be a problem, imo. They are VERY good.Agreed, then, if you get past St. Mary's, you get UCLA and potentially Baylor without Cryer and Tchatchoua. So true. Have traveled extensively domestically. E to W easily adjusted to. Some extra hydration is a +. Also this bracket seeding arrangement will give the Staff a focal point to put a large chip on Wilson's Warriors. I like all the angles and intangibles offered by the draw.Actually easier than going west to east. Suck ass seed and draw, but back-court shooting notwithstanding, IU is playing better than they have all year.
Disrespect always factors better than a lack of self-respect - after their B10 Tourney showing, the latter shouldn't be an issue. More concerned about whether Rob and Trey (and Geronimo) are good to go - St. Mary's is a disciplined Team and UCLA is the real deal.
Want to see that steel in IU's eyes that was so apparent against Michigan & Illinois. Xavier was so stony that he looked like a different person and Trayce was just smouldering. Think 'assassin's stare'. If that's the new normal they could go far...
They need one. I run a satellite company in Southern Indiana and our main office is in Portland....I have never seen a flight that didn't have a layover, usually Minneapolis or Denver.4 hour private plain to Portland
Boo Hoo.
How many other teams get private charters? I know UCLA does not
well I'm staying at Hilton Elara which is a 7 iron away, so mabye I'll try out Cosmo.Had a spectacular experience in Cos about three years ago so I am biased.

never thought of that, you think if we went undefeated, we would be a 1 seed and playing in indyPlay better and get a better seed. IU didn't and is suffering the consequences.
Yeah, Myles Johnson could be a huge problem for our offense. All of these teams are going to pose problems. I'm just saying that this isn't the toughest road to an Elite Eight run, mostly because the #1 seed is missing two key players. They'll still be tough as nails, but catching a #1 without 2 key players is a major plus.UCLA will be a problem, imo. They are VERY good.
It hasn't happened as I'd imagined, and the poor showing down the stretch of the B10 season took off some of the luster, but at the beginning of the season what I thought would constitute "success" was: 1) beat PU at least once and end that streak, 2) win at least 1-2 games in the BTT, and 3) make the NCAA. Therefore, I have to call this season a success. Now, I do think this team is/was capable of even more, so I hope to see that in the NCAA's, but I think this was a successful first year for CMW and our program.Yeah, Myles Johnson could be a huge problem for our offense. I think they'll handle Wyoming okay and I'm sure Saint Mary's will turn out to be tougher than I think, but I feel pretty good about getting to UCLA. If we can find a way to get past the Bruins, then it's off to Philadelphia which has always been kind to the Hoosiers.
Heck, at this point, it would be great to just beat Wyoming and get a taste of winning in the "Dance" again, something to build on for next year. However, after the way they played at times in the BTT, they suddenly have a license to pull off a few more surprises this postseason.

PS, if I had to pick one point of frustration this season it would be getting beaten at home by Rutgers with everything to play for.
