When will Mr. Watford make his decision?

I'd be very surprised if he didn't choose to sign with Memphis. It seems to me IU is only in consideration due to Christian being Trendon's brother.

You would be correct . I am not saying it is a 0% chance but it is not very good.

Agreed! I would say that LSU had a good shot until their explosion.
But Wade is back in good graces now...and the 5 guys testing the waters can still come back...

I linked an article previously though showing Memphis to be very confident- and Watford sounded like he was trying not to say too much...

Memphis games draw very little interest, IU games are where stars play. I think there's more interest in IU for him than most think. Trendon has seen first hand the type of environment is at each place and it's evident who wins that battle.

Watford has been a Memphis lean for awhile, but he's never pulled the trigger. I honestly don't think he knows where he wants to go for sure, and will probably decide the day before he announces. He even let Duke get involved late in the process. I don't think he's going to pick IU, but I also don't think IU is totally out of either.

Cal did ok there...
I’d think Penny is sharing his experience in a positive light too...

IU is easy to recruit against negatively with the current coaching performance...

Do you have an inside source? How do you know he has more interest in IU? Just curious.

If he is already set for Memphis, why schedule an in home with IU?

That is no different than people saying that Brooks was never going to pick Kentucky in front of Franklin and TJD and yet he did just that. Kids often do lots of visits and in homes. But I simply think you guys are setting yourselves up for a massive gut punch if you think he is coming to IU. Nothing at all points to him coming here. Sorry but it just does not. Hope I am wrong.

Do you like waking up miserable everyday...

Being on Penny’s first team in his retunr to Memphis - being 1 of 4 in a great recruiting class - buy into the hype of being ‘the group’ to return Memphis to winning ways and shoot for a National Championship!

A coach only gets that sales pitch to one group - as Archie did to Romeo, Rob, Damezi, Hunter, and Forrester and even Fitzner...

If it works, it keeps rolling...if it doesnt you find yourself losing 8 or 9 players, gaining 2 scholarship players and struggling to fill your next roster, w each increasing year becoming more difficult as a lame-duck coach players worry if you will be there to see their careers through...

On campus visits are different because the recruits are shown a very good time but IMO in homes would be different.

I have no idea where he is going and IU might very well be a long shot but I would not think he would schedule an in home at this late date if there was absolutely no chance that he would come to IU.

The ONLY reason I can think of that he would schedule an in home if his mind is made up would be his respect for his brother.

Sorry...bailey says there is 0% chance. It's over.

Memphis is a much more dangerous city than Bloomington. Basketball is king in Indiana, Football is king in Tennessee.
Archie has had more success than Penny. Penny is trying the celebrity alumni player returns home route. It may work, it may flop.
It would be like Isiah Thomas returns to IU. And Isiah had more NCAA and NBA success than Penny.

yeah because all those nba players that turn college coaches do so well. Just look at Mullins who just stepped down and Patrick Ewing is just lights out. I just find it funny how kids think just because you played in the nba will make you a great coach or talent developer.

Some recruits waste the coach's time and try to persuade the
school of choice to offer them more. In this case Memphis may
give Watford more minutes. CAM

Wade may be back on the team but the players could possibly be in real
hot water if implicated in the investigation. None of them are first rounds.

I have heard for a while Watford was not coming but there is always a chance..

An act lol. Yeah I have nothing better to do.

Finally, an intelligent and honest post.

You're usual post (ad nauseam, regardless of the topic) : "Yeah, it's a five year culture rebuild."

Like I said...sell your shit somewhere everyone doesn't have you pegged.

what exactly is the lure to Memphis??

Well, proximity is a big factor for most of the players. Of the top 8 commits between this class and last years, all but 1 is from the Memphis metro area. And for Watford, it is the 2nd closest school of those he is considering. That area of the country is a college basketball desert.

One of the top recruits picked Georgia, so the coach and the quality of the team may not carry much weight for a kid not expecting to be there long.

The more I think about it, the more I would hate to follow a brother at a school. The Zeller boys went to 3 different schools. Imagine how sick a kid would get hearing about the shot against UK. Or people comparing the kid to his brother and possibly coming up short.

His position would be crowded unless he would play the 3 and shoot like his brother. See, I just compared him to his brother. I'll understand why he chooses another school, but I hope he comes to IU and we forget his brother played there.
