A new Senate report involving CCP comms experts and journalists from ProPublica have concluded the Lab Leak Theory to now be the most likely cause/source of COVID-19. This comes as little surprise to anybody with common sense - including noted liberals such as Jon Stewart. Given the novelty and location of the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the notorious lack of quality and standards involved in all things CCP - most critically thinking non-sheep really struggled with the wet market alibi and how quickly it came into existence. Of course we were quickly labeled xenophobic or sinophobic by the good sheep that for some reason just could not have it be the CCP’s fault. We were once again called Conspiracy Theorists - the Left’s latest (albeit now replaced by “Fascists”) broad brush statement to dismiss and direct the sheep back to the narrative. Was it a combination of trying to stay Woke and not create discontent with Chinese citizens in America - even though policies like college admission affirmative action blatantly discriminate against them? When is it ok to shit on Asians in America? Only if not shitting on them creates “inequity” for other “oppressed” people?

But this phenomenon of dismissing, labeling and then redirecting isn’t new nor is it going away. If a conservative disagrees with leftist propaganda it doesn’t take too long until we are labeled as MAGA or Q’s for the great offense of questioning easily disproven narratives such as vaccines not stopping transmission or having nasty side effect profiles. We are conspiracy theorists if we quickly thought something is fishy with the Hunter laptop or the quick adoption of Russiagate or the like. We were proven right on all of this.

Yes, there are Q loons and MAGAdiots on the right just as there are insane Marxists and Antifa on the Left. But only one side gets cover from the real media and the other is extensively covered by the media. The media has lost the public trust - and we’re about to see that so have the Democrats. I will not be able to vote for a Democrat at the national level until Wokeness and journalism dominance is out of their hands. They’re wrong too often and Wokeness has real manifestations and negative results.

But I do promise you to not vote for loons like Mastriano or Gosar either. Loons are clearly identifiable and should be dealt with accordingly. But according to Big J journalists only we have the loons and that’s unadulterated bullshit.

So if you were one of the sheep that believes your handlers every time despite common sense or evidence to the contrary - I encourage you to wake the **** up.

The idea that the virus was introduced from the Wuhan lab rather than a wet market is a plausible theory. The ideas that Bill Gates added microchips to the vaccines, that vaccines "magnetize" the body and that they change your DNA, are absurd conspiracy theories.

Of course the left has loons, and violent nutjobs like the guy who shot Scalise and the guy who planned to assassinate Kavanaugh. But back to a theme of your thread - - conspiracy theories. There's no question about where most of that bullshit is coming from, who's promoting it, and who's lapping it up.

For reference, I agree with a lot of what you said here, but just for general reference, wasn't this you....
Sure. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China or are you just trying to poke me?

Vanity Fair is the delivery of this story. Sorry if I should’ve linked a different publication to avoid whatever point you think you’re making.

Sometimes it is easier to grab a source you may not be on board with all the time to buttress your opinion and not have it summarily dismissed because it is from a source your intended audience won't just blow off because of where the link is from.

Also of note, on the topics Ranger mentioned, the conservative leaning journalists were the ones NOT spreading conspiracy.

Yep. The (mostly) left leaning media whose conspiracy spreading bullshit is far more pervasive and dangerous than some cranks on a message board.

Very well-said.

History shows that message control, message manipulation, and message suppression, is the beginning of the destruction of any thriving society. Yet we continue to believe in top-down authoritarian “truth-givers” as being the way forward. The best antidote for conspiracy theories is more free expression, not less. Of course, we also must have good information and a populace able to absorb and process information. Both are diminishing and I blame big media.

Pretty lightweight stuff here. It’s easy to explain away magnetism in vaccines being conspiracy nonsense but there’s no ownership from you - a hyper partisan - that perhaps calling people with common sense “sino/xenophobic or Racist!” was pretty ****ing dumb.

Oh, please. Hilary has been warning that the upcoming elections are being stolen and that local GOP officials in numerous states are plotting to steal democracy . There are plenty of msm articles/pieces claiming that this election will be it for freedom and democracy in this country if Republicans win, as there are plans afoot to install an authoritarian regime. Just read RealClearPolitics every day and you’ll see two or three nutso pieces from some of the leftist authors.

So spare us this self-righteous crap about where all this conspiracy bullshit resides. Both rivers are swollen.

Isn't there a difference between "It has to be China's fault because it is China" and "It originated from China and here is proof".

I mean look at Iran saying the protests are America's fault. We MIGHT be involved, but at the moment there is no proof. (I hope we are not as nothing will stop the revolution faster than proof of US intervention)

Not to mention this new story pretty much excludes "It was China AND it was intentional" which was part of the argument.

But yes, in this case it seems likely the left made a mistake. If it were intentional they should not fear the central authorities.

Yes the left media that obsesses over it as a distraction to actual policy.

Correct about what ?

How the pandemic started, or as a country was our response effective ?

In terms of national defense shouldn't we have always assumed a biological threat such as the pandemic was possible and developed a top down response as with a nuclear attack ?

Great post. And it’s more than the media. It’s Hollywood and the breadth of its influence. This is a headline on numerous outlets this morning: SNL Cold Open Skewers Dr. Oz, Herschel Walker, and Kari Lake.

Wtf. Bias ya think? Oz was great in his debate. The Dem couldn’t even talk. Good for Musk. Good for people seeing through the bullshit. Here’s hoping for a red wave in a few weeks. I’m sick of the liberal bullshit. Hopefully we get something positive out of Sorbo on this rainy Sunday. Had my game canceled so going to try beef stew in a crockpot. Have Chinese on standby

We had something set up, but Trump thought we didn't need it anymore so ended up being caught unprepared.

How it originated is completely separate from the crap response from Trump and his administration and being completely unprepared and then purposely trying to hide it so it didn't hurt his chances of re-election.

Trying to displace blame is nothing more than a look over there distraction.

Oh well.

The “it was intentional” add-on to the lab leak theory was the left hinging on a few outlying points to move the goal posts. The conservative position is that this was likely caused by a lab leak - not intentionally.

But, China being China has a lot to do with this. They play fast and loose with safety, with quality and with human life value. Combining that with the opacity of the WIV and CCP when this happened, the proximity and existence of WIV in Wuhan and the common sense position is pretty easily arrived that this happened because of WIV in some way.

Look at the abject horror on Colbert’s face when Stewart explained this quite rationally (and comically) on the state mouthpiece Late Show.

LMAO moron. Read stupid read. The NY Times had a nice piece on the agencies' failure to deal with Covid, from negligent labs to antiquated tracking, to government being government. The failure was at the agency level, and transcends Trump and his administration. Trump should be credited with the speed to which the vaccines were created. Trump's verbiage was dogshit in keeping with Trump. What did Biden do? Anyone ever get those tests? Or were they wayyyyyyy too late. Biden didn't have a plan either.

You know Hickory at some point when you have more than half the board calling you stupid you should probably engage in a little self eval w/ re to your political views. Republicans are shit with Covid. Dems are shit with Covid. The difference is too many of the latter are willing to lock us down

What is "the argument?" I read A LOT of articles and posted about them on here discussing the Wuhan lab leak theory (called a lab leak, not an intentional dispersal of the virus). A very small minority claimed it MUST be intentional, which anyone with a brain understands could never be proven, even if true.

Yet, even claiming it could have leaked from a lab that was engaged in genetic engineering was labeled a conspiracy theory, xenophobic, etc.

Without proof, how is it different than Iran saying the protests MUST be American?

Calling it the "conservative position" is harmful. THAT is what leads to the very thing you are complaining about.

From the beginning it was worth asking the question: was it a lab leak? It had nothing to do with politics. It was a purely empirical question, with wide-ranging policy implications for future research into viruses across the globe (which are important and helpful!).

Then the politicians got ahold of it. Without a doubt, Trump wanted to blame China for this because he thought it would lessen his responsibility regarding outcomes. And without a doubt, the Dems wanted to blame Trump for every single death from COVID because they thought it would help in the election. BOTH SIDES MADE IT POLITICAL. But only one side--the Left--tried to shut down and shame discussion of one of the possibilities.

What's amazing, to me, is that rational, normally intelligent people can't see this and on the one hand understand that because of human irrationality, the answer to the empirical question will have political consequences, but on the other, understand that, regardless, we need to figure out the truth.

Again, tribalism took over--and is still going strong. Maybe people just aren't as smart as we think they are.

Oh, and please remember, the answer to this question is still not known. It is still very possible that the virus had a natural origin.

What do you mean by "proof?" There is evidence that supports the lab leak hypothesis. It is not a slam-dunk and might never be, one way or the other.

Also, you use and highlight the word MUST, as if asking the question, was it a lab leak, or saying "it is likely it was a lab leak" is the same as saying it MUST have been a lab leak. That's exactly backwards vs. what happened where, early on, the main media said it MUST have a "natural" origin and those who asked for "proof" were ridiculed.

The bringing up of how it began was used as yabbut for trump's failures in his response to it. How it leaked is irrelevant to how we handled our response.

The right was flinging shit against the wall hoping something would stick and they could pretend Trump did the best he could.

The lefts position wasn't to ignore how it originated. It was that it hardly matters how it originated as it pertains to being unprepared in responding to it and then downplaying it for as long as they could.

It is evidence, right? More than it must be a lab leak because it is the Chinese.

You saying anything is a yabbut is the zenith of hypocrisy.

The conservative position is that this was likely caused by a lab leak - not intentionally.
Would you not expect cases to have then centered around the Wuhan lab, after the leak?

It did not.

Cases radiated out in concentric circles from the wet market, some 20-25 miles away.

The pattern of disease prevalence does not make any sense with respect to the conservative position.

It would be like saying an accidental leak from a lab in Columbus Indiana caused a devastating outbreak centered in Seymour Indiana.

CCP conduct after the virus emerged is imho a key indicator that it was not something they desired. They could have constructed a plan following Trump's removal of the CDC watchdog who had been on ground in China since the Bush admin. But there is no way that they could possibly know that Trump would be stupid enough to hand them such an oppty, by foolishly removing the CDC watchdog because he wanted to spend the $$ on his wall...

On top of that the whole Trumpist interpretation of China's moves following the discovery of the virus and resulting pandemic makes it plain the "political" analysis is coming from ignorant amateurs. China MANDATED that the PLA administer the vaccine to the entire PLA cohort a year PRIOR to the US developing their own version. It was experimental, but the fact that they felt the vaccine was necessary for the PLA tells you exactly how stupid anyone claiming the vaccine was some sort of "Chinese plot" to disarm the US military has to be.

The PLA is the cornerstone of the Chinese military and if they have any dreams of "world conquest" the PLA is the one element that must be protected at all costs. So on that basis alone, people in the US who are opposed to our soldiers being vaccinated (and protected) are showing a fundamental ignorance of how the Chinese operate. They wanted their soldiers (and citizens) vaccinated because they knew how crucial a role the PLA in particular plays to Chinese military plans. There is no way they would "sacrifice" the PLA by injecting them with something they viewed as "dangerous"...

The whole premise of this thread seems weird. How exactly does this latest opinion from a Senate Committee invalidate the study from actual virologists that you posted about in July?

OK so this seems to be a good place to post this...

So there are news sources saying 250,000 unverified ballots have been sent out in the state of Pennsylvania.

So I go through my normal routine..Type it into google and Rueters and AP News say its false that they didn't go out. The rest of the results say they did go out.

Then I type it into Duck Duck Go. ALL the results say they were sent out and even local newspapers in Pennsylvania are reporting that the ballots went out.

So there are lawmakers that say they didn't go out and lawmakers saying they did go out.

Zinc was part of the dumbass hydroxychloroquine potion that was studied over and over and over again, failing miserably, over and over again. But the dumbasses still lined up for that shit. I bet you spent good money, too... am I right?
