What's going on with Tommy Mister?

I thought he was going to be a stud and we havent heard anything on him. Is his injury still an issue?

No real news - he's just behind the more experienced guys right now.

My guess is Devine Redding is No. 1, and Jordan Howard is 2.

I wish we'd go to a 2-back set and pound the ball, but I bet we won't.

It's funny how the preseason prognosticators picked Howard on their 2nd team All Big Ten teams and he may not end up starting. Nevertheless, we should expect to see a pretty healthy rotation of 3 guys in there and Mister may not be one of them.

There have been some positive reports on him from camp. As others mentioned, he is coming back from injury. Give him some time.

Does anyone recall comparisons to Tevin Coleman back when Mister signed with Indiana? His athletic ability was said to be off the charts. I am guessing the mental side of playing RB may be a challenge due to limited experience at the position. He was a quarterback as a high school senior, and then out with an injury as a true freshman. It'll take time given his injury and relative lack of experience, but if the Coleman comparisons have validity, he'll find his way into the rotation before long.

Just judging from previous years that all will get game time and who starts makes very little difference. The real question is will they be productive when they are on the field.

In the interview with Devine Redding, I believe Redding commented that Mister was doing very well. I'd say, "Pay no attention to depth charts" this early. I think we're going to be pleased with what these guys bring on Saturdays. IMHO.....

We'll be a running back by committee and that's not a bad thing considering we've been doing that for all of Wilson's tenure even with Coleman as the feature back. We've had some productive guys overshadowed by Tevin including both Stephen Houston and DeAngelo Roberts. I'd like to see what Rodriguez can do in certain situations.

He's just a RS Freshman. He's behind a guy who played last year for us and a guy who ran for 1500 yards at another D1 school.

I do remember the RB coach likening Mister to TC in regards to body type, running style, etc., though he didn't have that extra gear that TC possessed, Mister had an elusive running style. He played QB his senior year because they wanted the ball in his hands most of the time. There were a lot of QB delays, stretch plays, etc. Coach McCullough recently stated that the injury has healed and Mister is showing improvement on a daily basis. I'm betting that he will be in the mix sooner than later.

I could be wrong but I was thinking that those quotes from McCollough were about Jordan Howard. Said something about Howard being one of those guys who was more physical of a runner than TC but without the breakaway speed.

I just read the report from the BTN at practice and it didn't mention him at all. I was expecting/hoping for more as well. The surprise to me isn't that he is behind Howard and Redding, but he wasn't even the 3rd back mentioned - it was Ricky Brookins.

I still don't see how Redding beats out Howard. I wasn't all that impressed with him in the brief moments I saw him last year. Granted, he probably has improved vastly and had a great offseason, but still.

Redding was very good in the Missouri game as a true freshman and showed flashes of what he can do. He had a lot of burst and ran hard. He's been in the program for his second season now. Howard missed the spring and is new to the program. It's not that difficult to see why Redding might have a slight advantage on the depth chart at this time.

Mister was favorably compared to Tevin because both are about the same size and seem to have the extra gear once they break through the line of scrimmage. It most certainly will take him some time from the injury, but we shall see what he does as this year progresses. He's clearly behind Redding and Howard at this point, but it's still very early.

I think this will be Howard's team. He will get the lions share of carries. The guy has all conference talent and provides a toughness IU hasn't had on decades at RB. Just my view.

Looks like Mister just transferred. That came out of nowhere.

i guess it had been generally thought he just wasn't back up to speed and just trying to shake off the rust from the injury. But perhaps he had just truly lost out to brookins and Rodriguez.

I think that Coach Rod Carey (ex-IU player) is going to be on the radars of power-5 schools in the near future. His teams are solid.
