What the hell?

Eggs fixed
I hear this about egg prices, so I asked my wife who does 95 percent of the shopping, and she says the prices have not come down yet.

This says they're at record high prices:

I expect they will come down soon as they get this bird flu under control and reconstitute egg laying flocks.

I'm just saying the 'military' stuff seems to be real time updates. Ther other messages before the strike seems to be philosophical stuff - should we or shouldn't we.

Bottom line is, the mission was a success, no Americans were killed or hurt, and they've no doubt learned this is not a good way to communicate sensitive information. Lesson learned.
Shorter DANC:
"Talking points."

They've gone down here by quite a bit. I imagine the prices reflect regional markets.

No - the first part provided by Hegseth was 30 minutes before launch of FA-18s and it was 2 hours before first scheduled strikes. Waltz provided real time results later.
30 minutes before launch isn't a plan. It's the beginning of an implementation of a plan.

The planning has already been done, at that point.

But, whatever. They shouldn't have been discussing this much detail in the chat.

Take it easy on them, Aloha. All the McMAGAs have is DANC, a poster who is somewhat stupid and 100% dishonest. (COHVAC doesn't count due to his total lack of knowledge on the topic.)

Of course the plan was already done. CENTCOM did it. Then they informed the SecDef that conditions were good for them to go. SecDef said go. Then he released strike plan details to the Signal group, which he undoubtedly got from his SIPR device.

Definitely shouldn't have been discussing any of that on Signal.

Right. But to hear the media tell it, they were discussing the plan in detail before it ever happened. I don't read it that way - looks to me like the detail is divulged in the real time execution.

The texts are time stamped. How can they be real time when the first strike was 2 hrs away?
miss cleo 90s GIF

You think 2 hours is enough time for word to get to the Houthis and for them to do anything about it?

I don't.

And the mission was a success without US loss of life.
To set up a defense / counterstrike? Meh. Probably not.
To contact the target and tell him not to be in the place that is about to be bombed? Absolutely.

If you and I -- and Jeff Goldberg -- can get on Signal, it's a public platform. I realize that it's encrypted, etc. etc. But that doesn't mean it's not a public platform.

And the fact that Goldberg was somehow copied on these demonstrates the folly of using such a platform. Who among us hasn't accidentally CC'd somebody on an email that wasn't intended for their eyes? I have. I've also been copied on messages that weren't intended for mine. It's usually just mildly embarrassing. But in at least one instance I can recall, it was genuinely costly.

An assistant PM who works here once accidentally sent our entire bid list to one of our suppliers. It included outstanding bids, including our bids and key quote amounts from...suppliers.

I don't know if the choice of Signal as an interagency messaging platform was made by the Trump admin or prior. But, whoever made that decision, something like this was bound to happen at some point. I'm sure Goldberg's inclusion was an honest mistake. But that really wasn't the mistake that ought to get our attention.
There is a rat in Denmark, why would any of Trump's staff have the biggest Trump hater on
the planet info to include him on a messaging platform?

Well, @dbmhoosier is making this claim, too.

For me, it's not something I would exclude as a possibility. But, as things stand, we have no information that this was some kind of deliberate op on somebody's part. Until and unless we do, it's just idle speculation.

Even if it was, I don't think that Jeffrey Goldberg and/or his mole at DOD (or CIA, or wherever) is the one who caused them to discuss sensitive (classified?) information on a public messaging network. That was the choice of the participants.

Hopefully we'll learn how and why they came to make that choice.

Now that's the Hickory I remember. A leopard cant hide its spots.

Abbey Gate wasn't reported until later, douche.
no, returning your insult for calling me a hick. Never heard of Abbey Gate.

You're trying way too hard to defend something with bs. Then apparently get pissy when people call you on it.

What? Wait until the results of an investigation?

NO! We must have scalps NOW!!!

According to Waltz, he's never spoken with Goldberg and doesn't have his contact info in his "rolodex" (showing my age there, ain't I?)
That's certainly what he said, but the only way he was in the chat was that he was invited. Waltz apparently set up the meeting himself and only he could have invited him. Just speculation here, but the National Security Advisor likely has contact information for all major journalists that cover national security affairs, like Goldberg. Could be that all of them were in the contact list on his government phone because they transferred the contacts of his predecessor onto his phone when it was set up.

never heard it called Abbey Gate and not sure what that has to do with anything other than a bad attempt at a yabbut.
Just never heard anyone from your side of the aisle calling for resignations after that debacle, like you're calling for resignations now.

Seems plausible. I know that we load our company phones with all internal and lots of external contacts. So, in our case, people are going to see lots of contacts they've never met.

Again, hopefully we'll learn everything about what happened here.

show me my post where i said anything about resignations

But this is the type of stuff that happens when the president prioritizes blind loyalty over actual experience. Learning on the job shouldn't really be happening at this level.

Don't need to be military to know you don't just call up your local Houthi commander and tell them an attack is coming in an hour or two.

“Sir. When you are finished with that sheep, we have a call from Jeffrey Goldberg at The Atlantic, he is saying get out of dodge fast. Allahu akbar, death to America”

We don't even know if he was using a govt issued phone.
