Seems like he did, in fact, get hurt right after the Bahamas games, which is where Dolson and DeVries hooked up. It does sound silly to suggest that he "sat out on purpose" but the timing sure is curious.

Worked out for us, so I'll go ahead and call BS on the idea.

Wait a sec.

You mean the Bahamas trip was not entirely useless?

Oh well, I guess we probably don't know yet.

No wonder the IU job is a tough sell with rumors like this being created by our "fans".

*Edit* op! Sorry. The rumor is being spread by salty WVU fans. Even though we do have plenty of crazies, that makes more sense.

Didn’t he have surgery?

From a lot of the comments here on the free board, a fair number of our fans are crying too - LOL!

I guess if no one’s happy, you’ve crafted a good deal 😬
Not going to please everyone. I could be crying that it wasn’t Beard, who was by far the best possible candidate, but it wasn’t so I’ve taken a much closer look at who will be our coach and I’m pleasantly surprised. He fits the ‘future success model” to a tee. Now, can he execute it. If he does what he did last year at WVU, barring injuries, all these babies on here will stop crying.

Here’s a deep dive on his coaching expertise while we wait for November…

These WV fans sound a lot like the salty JMU fans when Cig was hired and took a bunch of their players. That's a good sign.
In their defense, they really got kicked in the nuts. LOL

Had a coach they had found, who looked like a really good hire. They had finally settled things down post Huggins. AND, they were smart enough to have in place a $6 million buyout! Pretty safe...

Then Indiana comes knocking.

According to them is was just exploratory

I mean, I was just sort of passing along what the hillbillies were suggesting. I'd say there are two different takes. One, he chose to have the surgery at that time rather than play out the year because he knew he could play at IU next season. Or two, he did need the surgery then but could actually have come back later in the season...if he didn't want to save the year for IU.

Neither of those takes is completely batshit. They probably aren't true but when you've been shafted you tend to latch onto such narratives. I've read far worse here.

Iowa board saying their AD found stuff from a deep background check and quickly said no to DeVries. Boy we got some manufactured outrage. I mean it can’t be anything else? Right?

Wait, so the "fake injury" they are alleging went so far as to require SURGERY?

That's commitment!

half the people still won't be convinced. "the doc was paid off". "the surgery was fake/done by paid actors".

the modern american often believes stuff despite all evidence to the contrary. the more evidence there is against, the greater the conspiracy.

Two is going to happen with increasing frequency to all schools in both football and basketball. It's valuable to save that year and bank it again. So that one could be plausible.

We saw it here in football a little bit already.

they are pissed, felt Tucker could have come back this year but just milked them for NIL, so he could get another year of eligibility.
They are just big mad because first, they got screwed out of a bid. Then they got screwed out of a very good coach. And finally, they got screwed out of their best player… What would you expect? They ain’t gonna be happy about all this.
