Went to the store this morning….

Did you only get eggs and bacon?
My high school friends get together for a weekend of boating, casinos, poker and fun in French Lick every summer. I never go to the grocery. I went to pick up food and adult beverages to chip in for the weekend. I bought a cases of beer, some lunch meat, bread and cheese for the boat, a bag of Grippos, and Gatorade. Total - $100. I bought $10 worth of ice the next day (2 bags).

It's crazy! Now I get why my wife is buying store brands. Check out Prairie farms milk vs the store brand. Glad we get free eggs from a friend. We might have to buy a cow and tell my neighbors to get over it.

We’ve only been talking household staples here and not downplaying that at all because it impacts a large % of our population. But, we bought a house in FL last year, that wasn’t what we thought it was (total dumbassery on my part), and have been renovating major items, water filtration system, roof, two bathrooms, boat house, tree work, landscaping, windows, etc. Plus, we were flooded by both Ian and Nicole last Fall. That included a 2’ gut of the entire lower level, and reconstruction of the walls and floors. Still reeling from that fun experience.

My point is this, yes food and household daily items have skyrocketed, but construction materials are headed to Mars. We signed a contract on a second home in 12/21 that sits on the inter coastal and the sea wall didn’t pass inspection. We got estimates and wrote it into the loan at 45k. Not only did it take 18 months to complete (that’s a whole other story 🙄) but contractors have told me that same sea wall now would be 80k+.

Ordered windows, 12 weeks to receive and install. That’s 3 months!! This has forced people to change everything. What you order, based on what they have and when they can get it. Oh yeah, you might be doing a lot of this work yourself because you simply may not be able to find someone to do the work. I had a long punch list of electrical items, called 16 electrical contractors before I found one that could get out in less than two weeks. Most were a month or more.

Last item and I’ll shut up - 9/10 contractors that show up are my age or older, and I’m 58.

Had to get some bacon & eggs. Looked for a magazine that might have some IU bball related stories, couldn’t find anything….🤔
Every Sunday Morning I have the same breakfast. I have 1 egg fried, 3 strips of bacon, and 2 pieces of cheese on a low carb tortilla and a huge cup of black coffee. It gets me going pretty good. One issue I have in preaching is that milk causes a lot of phlegm. So I stay away from it.

Chicken.... :D

Seriously----Just 18 large, brown eggs. They were $3.89

I recall when eggs were, I mean like 89 cents. Must be a chicken shortage?
