The next game will tell us if we just have a good team or if CWK has built a program. If we come out with a major boner like Alabama did against Georgia (on our scale, of course) and show PSandusky U absolutely no mercy in administering a major ass-whippin' (which they so richly deserve), then I think it shows we have a program built for the long haul. If we do what Indiana has always done over the last hundred-plus years and step all over our collective prime members in a humiliating loss following an excellent performance, then we still haven't yet turned the corner toward consistent competitiveness.
I personally hope we finally have a program. When I played, we thought we had it fixed with Coach Corso, but after the Holiday Bowl win, we regressed. After Coach Mal did such an incredible job, I thought: "NOW we have it"....but once again we regressed. And with the idiots we had running the University and the Athletic Department in the 90's, it's no wonder everything got destroyed. Horrible hires, incompetent leadership, lack of concern for our place in the hierarchy in the world of NCAA hoops and the dramatic free-fall down the academic rankings ladder left our beloved University in really bad shape. I'm so hoping Coach Wilson is the one, and in my opinion, I think he just may be. The announcers alluded to it yesterday, as did Mr. O$U Kirk Herbstreit, saying CWK had really built both lines through excellent recruiting to the point where they look like B1G offensive and defensive powerhouses. No coach has ever come to IU and made building the lines the number one priority until CWK which, after yesterday, showed the nation he has done it the right way (the three long runs notwithstanding). I'm certainly not happy with FG regarding his handling of our hoops program, but I feel/hope by giving Coach Wilson a long and supportive leash he has handled our beleaguered football program properly, viewing consistency as a top priority.
There is no team on our schedule I want us to beat more than PSanduskyU, as they showed all the "right way" crap they bragged about was nothing but a sham and a scam. I personally hope we hand them the worst beat down they've experienced in the last fifty years, proving that Indiana Football has arrived!!!!!
