Should people who don't play,coach,manage, or have any part of a team, refer to that team as "we"?

It makes 0 sense to me, and is not a truthful statement. I like dogs...does that give me the right to refer to myself as "we" when speaking about dogs? It's not based in fact, but more of a desire, than actual fact. Being a fan of something, does not give you the right to identify as their equal. It's really dismissive of the work and skill it takes to be a part of that team, or institution. Furthermore, why would an adult, need to claim some sort of ownership over something comprised of mostly kids, whenthey have 0 influence over any of those individuals actually on the team, or the team itself. Really sad.
