Agreed that the chaos in the SEC may not be over.

If IU takes care of business Saturday, we are a lock for the CFP. (Also, we still have an outside chance of hosting a first round game depending on results of other games this weekend).

The opinion of this guy below (a writer for Yahoo sports) deserves some consideration. After correctly predicting every team and every seed in last week's CFP rankings, he predicts IU will be a #11 seed in this Tuesday's rankings, with a first round game in South Bend. He also writes: "The Hoosiers are the main beneficiary of the chaos in the SEC. Had Alabama and Ole Miss gotten wins, it’d be easy to see the committee dropping Indiana from the field this week. Instead, the Hoosiers have to feel really good about their chances. A win over Purdue should be enough for a playoff berth."

Indiana better be locked in because you know PU will be.

Purdue threw in the towel 2 months ago. They will have 20+ players in the portal by Monday and rumor is the majority of their coaching staff will be cleaning out their offices Sunday.

It is working out pretty cleanly for the selection committee. Looking at next week's schedule the likelihood of unforeseen chaos seems relatively low.

The only two scenarios where IU doesn't make it: 1) They lose to Purdue or look awful and barely eek it out. Unlikely. Or 2) A&M beats Texas and then Georgia in the SEC Championship game, squeezing Indiana out due to a 3-loss team getting an automatic bid. (Not very probable.)

Not worried about Clemson because if they get in it will be at the expense of Miami, so it would be a wash from our point of view.

Not worried about two ACC teams. I think two are getting in and Indiana still makes it.

Clemson and Alabama will be the first two out which is actually a fantastic storyline. Indiana gets to be the Power 5 Cinderella, another perfect storyline, especially for the first year of the 12 Team format. Yep, the Committee Members are probably grinning big right now as they drink their free Dr Pepper at their Roundtable.

I have been following the Hoosiers since 71 and I cannot think of a single time we have beaten Purdue where we had no business beating them. Conversely I can go on and on about the times they have beaten the Hoosiers when they had no business doing so.

I agree for the most part, but there haven’t been too many seasons where they “had no business beating us.” This may be because they have a history of finding some pretty good quarterbacks, a skill position capable of covering up some other areas of deficiency.

I screwed up meant 1989. AT lost the Heisman and we lost a bowl bid due to losing to a 2 win Purdue at the time.
