Way to stay trashy UK

This tournament could not have played out better for uk. Playing a team they already beat twice and had lost their best post player. Then watching Duke fall had to be like pouring salt on their wounds.

UK had the gates to the FF open to them: UNC out of the way, just had to (quoting the KSR broadcast) “put the hammer down on Auburn and take care of business.”

Lost to a less talented team that played like they wanted it more.

All for pouring salt in UK wounds. No more deserving fanbase around.

Second straight year UK has had the brackets open up for them with a relatively easy path to the final four. Cal couldn't get the job done either time.

Weak Final Four

Are you kidding?? No Duke, UK, Kansas or North Carolina?? Best FF not involving IU ever, although I will say I was torn on Purdue. They deserved to make it, it is an Indiana & BT school, and my son went there. So I was hoping they'd win, but I was still ok that they lost.........

I tell you what...........I'm not so sure about that 'less talented team' stuff.......they've won a lot of games in a row, and those guards were clearly superior to UK's......they made Herro look like zero.

I hate UK so much that I had not watched 1 of their games this year. I was surprised that they were not more talented. Nowhere near Duke in that regard, and nowhere near some of their best one & done teams.

BTW, how great would it have been for IU to have beaten Kansas, UNC, and UK in a row to get to the FF?

Auburn definitely has talent but, without Okeke, they were the less talented team of the two. What they had going for them is that they were the more experienced team on the floor. (Side note: I really hate hearing Cal whine about his "young players" and how they sometimes perform. Get a clue, that is part of your system, stop using it as an excuse.)
Rant aside, Auburn has been demonstrating what a more experienced team can do & its been fun to watch.

Auburn is on a roll & for IU to have beaten Kansas, UNC, & UK to get to FF? Absolutely fantastic but totally unrealistic this season. Expecting better things for the future.

Would love to see a Texas Tech vs. Auburn final.

On the UK board some are calling for Cal's head. Earlier today heard a UK call in show where the caller was lamenting this fact and that, as a fan, if UK reaching the Elite 8 or Sweet Sixteen each year is okay, then UK isn't the program for you. Clearly espoused the expectation that their program must achieve the Final Four each year.

Evidently, the addiction to meth is a powerful thing.

I agree, this years tournament was strong, no Cinderellas, and the most fun\strongest sweet 16\elite 8

I think ppl misunderstand

Our fans do it as well.

And whats probably a more appropriate way to explain it is...if uk couldnt get it done this year, with the path unc left for them, and Auburn having their best player injured...then when exactly are they going to get it done....and that-thats a problem for a blue blood like Kentucky

And they are concerned about that as they are lamenting that the caliber of the recruits they are getting has dropped to 4 stars. UK should have got it done this year (Final Four berth) but didn't. If I were they, I would be displeased as well but some of the craziness about annual FF appearances, it's just that, craziness.

Like you, I hadn't watched a UK game the entire season until yesterday. I was surprised at the limited offensive punch of this group. A far cry from the days of guys like Wall, AD, the Harrisons, and Boogie.

I think part of the problem is that there are only maybe 5 or 6 freshmen each year that are really NBA-ready. Until Duke decided to go all-in on the OAD, Cal got almost all of them every year. Now he and Coach K are dividing the booty, and neither has had enough in most years to beat the best of the rest. I'm not a big Seth Greenberg fan, but I think he's right about the folly of getting only one or two OADs. If you are going to go that route, you'd better be sure you have enough of those guys every year to get to the Final Four.

Even taking a chance on two-year guys leaves you pretty vulnerable. When Cody Zeller decided to leave with Hulls, Watford, and Oladipo, we were completely depleted. Obviously Romeo, NV, and Thomas Bryant got us nowhere. I know you need some of the best players, but if you are going to take a chance on one or two-year guys you need a pipeline to difference-making transfers as well. That's what got Texas Tech back to the elite eight (and beyond) this year.

It only takes 1.

Most Kentucky fans have responded negatively to this.

After visiting Rupp's Rafters yesterday and watching the meltdown, thread after thread doubting Calipari, the FF or bust every year mentality, and those calling for his head I think it's more than just one.

Toss up on who I enjoyed more going down in burning flames this March: Buckyville, pUKe, Duke or Purdon't. Oh heck, I'll admit it. Watching pUKe get beat by the Tigers after what happened to Okeke, and then the posting of that stupid bedsheet cartoon by that Jim Carrey wanna-be loser from Keeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnntucky was pure beauty.

I agree w the caller. They were getting the best recruits until Duke dumped its once sacred 'grow into good players' program and recruited OADs. Still they get top 3 classes year after year and so I'd demand final fours every year, too.

Cal’s system results in deep tournament runs but it can not guarantee FFs and championships, especially when they run up against a veteran team with talent. Experience counts. If it didn’t, Zion would be cutting down the nets this year.

Over 1500 likes  But got what they deserved!

Just another example of why the "Keion picked UK because IU fans are too mean" bs is just that.(bs)

Can you imagine what UK fans would do if they lost 12 of 13 and missed the tournament for the 3rd straight year? There aren't enough couches in the world to warrant the tragedy, let alone the things they would be saying to the players.

Keion chose Kentucky because they are a far better program right now, nothing more nothing less.

I’m sure he’s hoping extreme talent will leapfrog experience. They only lost by a point. Thx.

Weak Final Four
Each team there earned it. Team ball. Stronger than OAD reliance in the end. Duke was lucky to make it to the Elite 8. Missed tip in from losing to UCF. Being Duke, UK, UNC, etc. does not get you a pass into the FF. If people are disappointed about not seeing Zion there, then tough...he and his team did not belong. They did not prove they were strong enough.

Zion did not have any help scoring in his last game. MSU double teamed the post feed to Zion and denied him the ball. And it worked.
