I really hope to stop seeing these for a long, long time.
One guy’s opinion, but this was very good. Maybe not Cig good, which was a once in a lifetime presser the whole world knows about, but coach not just said the right things… but sounded like he embodied and believed them.
As a parent, I could see myself trusting this guy. No air of BS or unearned arrogance whatsoever. As a player, well, I loved that he mentioned he wasn’t gonna compromise a good locker room vibe for an individual with red flags.
Sounds like he has a business-like approach to success, which can be bad if you’re focused on the wrong things, but I heard defensive rebounding and shot-making so… yay? Also like the focus on getting the ball up the damn court and making plays early in the shot clock.
IU has been a plodding, one-note team for so long, this may be the trick that gets an elite PG to come and run the O. We haven’t had a true baller at the 1 since Yogi.
I’m also all for his son to use IU as a platform for stardom, LFG.
Lastly, his use of the word “aligned” is exceedingly corporate but his use of the word “awesome” is to be commended, as I inherently trust anyone who incorporates that word into their vocabulary. Some things are just plain awesome.
Hopefully it all becomes awesomely aligned, delivering some Ws soon. I’m in. Fine. One last time. And hopefully for a long time. Which you can kinda sense here. Onward!
